50+ what topics do you you want to see covered?
We all have unique lives and challenges we face but in many cases we are dealing with the same types of issues. As we move closer to having our own forum to discuss 50+ issues, it is important to know the basic areas that we want to cover. At first, if we have too many areas (over 12) then it may be harder to find people's threads, but we can have many subjects and subforums under these main categories. I really hope to hear people's ideas because this is your forum and I want it to represent your needs and interests.
Here are some of the ones that seem to me to be important but there probably are others.
career changes
Staying Healthy
Losing Someone
Caregivers
Empty Nest
Loneliness
Mindfulness or Coping
Weekly Checkins
Others like Team Announcements
Resources - Discussion schedules
So what basic areas would you see helping the 50+ 7cups community?

Great Soul
What about having a subforum for "special events" in which we can either post subcommunity's specific events and also threads during specific moments of the year like Christmas or similars? Not sure about the title but I hope it gives an idea of what i was thinking about.
Then also the monthly thread to welcome new subscribers which is a space where they can also tell about thmeself when they join.
@BeyondTheInvisible okay so something with events. That could be helpful for sure. One way to handle that would be to have a schedule Forum thread and post discussion times and topics as well as special events. How does that sound?
@soulsings
It sounds good
@soulsings
That's sounds great! 😊😊😊!!
@BeyondTheInvisible
Yes that's a great ideal! 😊😊!
still learning this forum system format stuff...
but i would like to see some time devoted to "Learning New Skills for New Challenges" or something to that effect~ :)
@GusteeMoon123 that is a great idea. Even an area called Challenges I Face could cover many issues like Empty Nest, Grief and Loss, What to do in Retirement plus many more. What do you think of that idea?
@soulsings
Soul, i think that is a good idea, challenges I face so that people can put in their individual problems.
@GusteeMoon123
Yes that's great ideal!😊😊!!
@GusteeMoon123
Great idea! Having been there and done that since age 50 such a topic area would have been helpful.
I'd love to see:
career changes
Caregivers
Loneliness
Weekly Checkins
Team Announcements
Resources - Discussion schedules
@JolivetteListens yes those all sounds good. Caregivers, career changes and Loneliness might go under a "Challenges I Face" - would that work for you?
@soulsings Quite nicely!
@JolivetteListens
Yes me too! 😊😊😊!
@JolivetteListens
All good ones.
@soulsings
Thank you everyone who has shared
with us . On what y'all want to be discussed
and talk about.
Thank You Y'all! 😊😊😊😊!
@soulsings
How about being disabled and being 50 ➕.
Because I am disabled. 😊😊😊!
What do you think soulsings about this?
@GuardianAngel77 I am, too. That is an awesome topic. I didnt list it because of the disability area but it is certainly an area of interest.
@JolivetteListens
Thank you! 😊😊😊!
@GuardianAngel77 I am glad you are active in 50+ thanks for letting us know what topics are of interest to you. I think all humans have a disability until they overcome the hidden challenges they face in life. The worst disabilities are the invisible ones that are hard to see like hatred and prejudice. They disable the best part of humanity in a person, compassion and caring. To me someone may have a physical disability and have a caring heart. To me that is how we overcome disabilities.
there are definately skill sets to go with each area mentioned... i found that i had never learned the skill set for "having a housekeeper"... thus today i am without one, even tho eligible. i went thru training on how to advertise, fill out employment forms, keep timesheets, blah blah blah,, all the Admin stuff, but no one told me how to train myself to put up with the things that many 'caregivers' bring with them to the job (neediness, bigotry, anger issues, their own loss and grief, etc). often, by the time i realized what was going on, it was too late to 'repair' the relationship. i really needed someone to talk to about those things... and learned the hard way.
@soulsings
Can we have also a "Quizzes Fun and Icebreakers" space?
another site i visit has a thread called "Things Baby Boomers Remember",, not wild about the title, but the posts have been a hoot~! they often come with pictures from the web, too. :)
@GusteeMoon123 interesting - or what do baby boomers look forward to?
@soulsings
aaah, the future seems dreadful and dim.... maybe that's why i try to stay in the present (which ain't all that great, too~)
my only consolation is: as long as i'm alive i can continue to gain in Awareness and Compassion~!
maybe, instead of "Challenges I Face", we could have a thread on "Skill Sets", which can be applied to many kinds of challenges ??
In Canada. Wish with all my heart there was real support for mental health care consumers. Can
