Aging means to face changes
Hello community!
Aging often means to face changes. It can include physical and social changes, sometimes it’s more difficult to find a new job or to plan a new goal in one's career.
Those that had children could see them less because they now have their own family and could be located far.
Altogether these things can lead to negative emotions as an effect of the changes.
Although it could be positive to be an active part in these changes trying not to just suffer due to them.
Just to name some, It could be good to find new hobbies and interests, to socialize with new people or to enjoy things with own partners because less busy with career or in raising children.
A key point could be to look at the time alone as a me-time moment, during which it’s possible to enjoy what one likes and to see the beauty in simple daily things.
I hope everyone finds their way to improve their wellbeing and emotional state of mind.

‘’There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love’’

It's upsetting to realize when I throw myself into a new physical activity or go back after a hiatus, it takes me a few days to recover.
What could help you keep enjoying life at best ?
I've already taken steps to clear my space of stuff I no longer use. I am happiest in a tidy home.

I joined a local board games group awhile ago and altho' we were forced into playing virtually, I can't wait to get across the table from those awesome people again.
@LoveMyRotty
What are some emotional effects of aging you are experiencing? I'm actually a lot more mellow / less emotional than I used to be. I kind of like that part of maturing!
What could help you keep enjoying life at best ? I broke my leg last year, near the ankle, and I wish that pain would go away and I could get back to being more active. At my age, it's taking a whole lot longer to recuperate and I'm pretty sure I have arthritis. Oh, the many joys of aging!

Hello to you!
It sounds like fun to create things, well done!
Sorry that you think about being alone in the future, I understand that parents gets older and we all have to face the moment in which it'll happen to say them goodbye.
Wishing you to enjoy every day with them till they will be by your side.
Have a nice new week ahead!
What are some emotional effects of aging you are experiencing?
Super sensitive about people asking my age and holding it over me. I don't know why. I've had my time. Lucky to be here. But people can be mean when they find a button to push and my s.o. has some friends that are competitive and nasty.
What could help you keep enjoying life at best ?Aghin
Spending less time with people I do not like. I have found it hard to ask that I need to not hang out with some of my s.o.'s friends because they are petty and like to push buttons but I need more positive people in my life. I don't need to be put down. I spend a lot of time alone, I guess I need to live more in the now and not dwell on past and fear of what could happen in future encounters with people I do not care for.To become intune with myself really understand why difficult people bother me and how to stop letting them bother me. Have more love in my heart for my wonderful family and animals, be grateful for all I have.
What’s something new you have discovered that you really like doing?
I am gearing my self to make time to create more. I need to motivate myself, spring is coming so gardening.
@Nickie2442
Hi Nickie2442!
I also think that it's important to spend quality time with people which means to also choose who to interact with.
Sorry some of them behave impolitely.
Gardening is relaxing, do you have plants or flowers? .... maybe both?
Cheers!
I took a class at the Library before the pandemic. I have made a beautiful garden (in the making). at least it is to me. Flowers and veggies and berries. Also has an area to sit a japanese soaking tub a firepit and a koi pond. A lot to go but I love it!
Not a direct reply but: Reading all of your responses above, has really made me think about my own life! You are helping me realize that I am getting frustrated, angry, negative feelings over stupid things!! That I need to re evaluate who and what is in my life-and see if it is really still serving me well- or time to let it go. If not adding to my life- why am I holding onto it!! So thanks for Ann if your thoughtful introspective answers.
@caughtinthemiddle that is a great insight. Hope it helps you find what is life enriching.
For me, it starts with finding something to be grateful for. Today I am grateful for a nap that helped me get out of the blah mood I was in.

@Amelia2324 aging for me is like a wake up call to the things I refused to face when I was younger.
@soulsings
You sure said that right Soul!!! This is also a wake up call to me, almost every day, in so many ways. I agree that when we were younger, we didn't realize how all of the things we now go through and deal with matter so much.
