Dreading something - the fear of something bad happening, like the dread you feel when walking alone on a deserted street in the dark or not completing something by the deadline at work. What does dread feel like? The feeling of fear, but it can also be the desire to avoid something. For example, many people feel dread at the very thought of speaking in front of an audience or medical issues.

Questions:

1. What situation did you dread that when you turned and faced it and just did what you had to, was not that big a deal?
2. What are some things coming up that you are trying to overcome that you are currently dreading?

1. What situation did you dread that when you turned and faced it and just did what you had to, was not that big a deal?

When I try to handle situations I felt were hard and found out it was not that big of a deal.

2. What are some things coming up that you are trying to overcome that you are currently dreading?

I am working on some things I have put off to the side and forgetting about. If I do not work on them it will never get resolved

@pamharley003

I agree somethings we think things are harder than they really are. Maybe to also help you can make a list, I add things to my calendar also to help get things done and schedule time for the items.

From my Childhood reading....

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

1. What situation did you dread that when you turned and faced it and just did what you had to, was not that big a deal?

Very recently I was scanning my work emails and saw some emails from someone I work with that I have a hard time with. I spent the better part of the afternoon dreading reading the emails. Then I finally open them up and read them and it turned out to be ...nothing.

2. What are some things coming up that you are trying to overcome that you are currently dreading?

Again related to work. I just have a couple hard weeks coming up, and I really dont want to deal with it all. But Ive got to figure out a way to do just that.

My Resignation letter:

After working here for 10 years I am part of the problem and no longer part of a solution. This may be true for everyone, but I am going....

@PeterJC @MissPen

Sometimes HR or management needs to get involved also with things to help out so things don't get that bad.

@MissPen

It is amazing how some of our emails are like that when we open them. I hope your upcoming weeks fly by fast. Just remember to breathe, if you need to talk to someone you can count to 5 and that 5 can be many times and then talk to them. Take a walk on breaks, lunch, etc to help clear the mind.

@MissPen I am glad you are staying and finding a way through the situation. Turning and running away never solves the problem because like a dog with cans tied to your tail, the problem keeps following you until you stop running. Our problems are much smaller than they seem when we face them than run away.

1. What situation did you dread that when you turned and faced it and just did what you had to, was not that big a deal? I think getting chewed out over an issue that came up at work that I don't feel was really my fault. I faced up to the chewing out, and since then everything has been fine.
2. What are some things coming up that you are trying to overcome that you are currently dreading? Sorry, these days I am not dreading anything. Something may come up, but for now, nothing at all.

Sorry to hear about your work. Sometimes folks don't know all the facts also and judge us to what others say about the situation.

@DanaMH dreading has another effect. Our attention gets so focused on what we dread that we miss the beauty of life we are walking by and the people who are there and the part of life we take for granted that is so wonderful. Be careful what you place your attention upon because it colors the world that you see around you.

@soulsings

That is so true, I have also noticed over the years it also seems that the years go faster and faster than when we were younger.
