The World Is Changing
The world is changing, and changing fast. Technology, education, health, eating habits, dress - there is hardly anything in life that is not changing, some changes we like, while others create fear and anxiety.
What kind of changes are challenging to you?
The fast development of technology (particularly in computers) is challenging for me at times.
What about you?

@amiablePeace77 yes I agree that technology seems to be getting ahead of what we really need to fulfill the wants of advertisers. I am still happy with my desktop.
@soulsings
being aware of the difference of what we need and what we want take off a lot of pressure.
@amiablePeace77 yes being compelled from without to do things because everyone else is doing it does not make sense to me.
the ongoing lose of physical abilities, movement, coordination, stamina... sight.... health in general~ these are all challenging me.
on the other hand, i have made peace with mortality, and have strengthened my Spirituality enormously~ i like that ~!
@GusteeMoon123 sorry to hear about your losses but so glad you have found a path of acceptance.
What kind of changes are challenging to you?
The death of manners & politeness by Ladies and Gentlemen. People can be very rude these days and often view manners as being fake because you want something from them.
What about you?
I always act like a gentleman whether others deserve it or not.
Because we all deserve respect.
Technology is definitely a great challenge for me
world peace begins with me~!
i had a mentor who was so gentle and compassionate, i asked him: "How do you do that ?"
his reply was: "I just try to treat everyone the same."
by that, i understood him to mean that he was no disrespector of persons, neither high nor low, same or different. he had his standards set right and used them unfailingly.... to that, i aspire.
What changes are challenging to me?
All the changes that companies are introducing to squeeze out every penny of profit or reduce costs with no consideration to the end user.
- online shopping is great, but now in the US, you can buy your car online. Why would I ever want to buy a car without test driving it first? The only benefit I can see is for a company that doesn't need a showroom and salesman.
- in my state they are no longer sending out notices to renew your car license plates. Guess who got pulled over today with expired tags?
- my work place is now only emptying the trash twice a week (we are a very large place so this is a real benefit to the company), but unemptied, stinky garbage is not really a great way to motivate your employees.
Perhaps I am just in a bad mood from being pulled over.....
@carefreeHeart57
Hi Heart. I can see that you get frustrated with that. There are surely things where it makes sense to save but not with everything and surely not with garbage becoming an issue!
Hope you did not have to pay a high fine
, it's really annoying, I always mark important things to do in red in my calendar - hate to pay fines.
@amiablePeace77
No... the cop was really nice and I got a warning - no fine. But it was the first time I was ever pulled over by a police officer. My kid has been pulled over twice and she is only 20! At least, my first encounter with the law wasn't too bad!
the Cost of Living (COLA) adjustment to disability and pensions is a bad joke, in poor taste~! for 2 yrs they said there wasn't any inflation... then we got 2%~!!! omg, my food costs have gone up over 20%, utilities, UP,, insurance, UP... what are they using for an index, anyway ??
now i am 'forced' to apply for Food Stamps,,, i can't use the food closets because of the diabetes (they hand out starch and sugars). life is just getting tougher and tougher, financially. and now my little laptop (less than 4 yrs old) is crashing, blue screen of death, and i had to use my little $500 credit card (that i was JUST getting paid off~!) to get a new one.....
which means i'll spend 2 weeks transfering all my 'stuff' to the new one,, and i've already made several doc and dentist apptmts in the next few weeks,, which means my stress levels will be SKY HIGH~!
so, if you don't see me around much, or if i get a little rowdy in Chat,,, just remind me to BREATHE~~~~~~
@GusteeMoon123
Gustee, sorry to hear you got to face these additional challenges now. I can understand that this is upsetting you and hope you get through with the food stamps, you have managed a lot already in your life and come this far. Hope the new laptop will hold for long.
@amiablePeace77
thanks for your well wishes, Peace~ even tho i might need less encouragement and praise than i used to, it's still good to hear someone speak encouragingly~
@GusteeMoon123 Sorry you are going through all that. Yes it does seem to happen all at once and at the exact moment you don't need it to happen. Surely in this day and age of various health issues and allergies they carried a broader range of food or arrange it to be brought in for those they know will be coming in regularly - I do understand they may not be able to stock them all the time unless they know they'll be used.
@scarletLand3247
living in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere is very different than living most other places... our options and resources are very limited. there is one little bus to serve the county, and it goes around in a circle once an hour. it's not like the way most people live.
@GusteeMoon123 sorry left out the one thing I came in to say and added the others.
I'll tell you to breathe if I see you
Hugs

@scarletLand3247 we all need reminders to breathe <3
gasping for air
but still breathing
@scarletPear1945 oh no hope it is not that bad.
imagine my surprise when i get this letter from Social Security, telling me i am no longer "Disabled" , i am now "Retired" ~!
hahahahaha roflmao
i didn't even get a raise. but i did get my new Driver's License and a Food Stamps Application in. it's been so long that i've been out of the social services loop that i got disoriented~ O.o (hiccup)
NAP TIME~!
@GusteeMoon123 as I understand that at a certain age you are not on disability but on retirement social security. The benefits do not change but the label does.
@soulsings
yes, Soul,, that 'Certain Age' is 66,,, just call me Happy Birthday~
@GusteeMoon123
"Happy Birthday"
@GusteeMoon123
It's the law - good to see you taking it with some sort of humour - humour always helps
@GusteeMoon123
That is good to know what changes when we get older. I wasn't aware of the change in SSA.
