When I was a child on Sundays we always had a desert after our main meal. This was something very special for me and something to look forward to every Sunday. My grandma made a special dessert which was "Cold Hedgehog" (translated). It was basically crushed biscuits covered with chocolate - I loved it!

My favorite dessert as a kid was always icecream.

Did you have a favorite flavour too? Mine was lemon but some days I preferred chocolate.
Another thing that all the cousins loved was when grandma bought a big crate of fresh ripe peaches! She canned a lot but we always got to sink our teeth into that sweet moist mushy sweetness... mmm, good memories. Then, we took turns getting to have the peach crate to make stuff out of. That's where we all took turns getting into trouble with grandpa's tools... lol.

Smaller boxes...lol. Don't remember much of the creations. I think because of the terror our uncles gave us over using 'grandpa's tools.' But it really was their way of messing with us. I liked making big can stilts more. All it took was a couple big empty cans, an old fashion can opener and some binder-twine. Make 2 holes at the edge, across from each other in the can - tie one end of the twine through one hole - stand on cans holding twine tight at the right height - then measuring out from middle down, cut and tie the end in the other hole....wah lah... hold twine, stand on cans and have 'can walking races' with your crazy cousins...

The closest I come to that now is when I walk to one of the gas stations/convenience stores nearby, in a moment of weakness. A few nights ago I bought a little tub of cookie dough-flavored ice cream. I don't do this often, though...you know how it is. The older you get, the more that excess calories show themselves around your waist & gut! I have enough of that as it is.

As a little girl my favorite dessert was the homemade caramel my mother used to make for us. We would toast our bread slices and spoon drip a puddle of caramel on top. It was so sweet and sticky that I used all my senses to enjoy it. I can still taste and smell it in my memory to this day.

Homemade caramel is truly something special, just the smell of it in the kitchen must have been mouthwatering already, mmmh.
My favorite dessert from my childhood was fruit cream. My mother made it for every dinner we threw and also for everyone's birthday. It was small cubes of fruits lavishly tossed in rich whipped cream.... I can recall the taste even today. ☺️

Haha which was not my favorite?? I loved everything. But we didn’t have often maybe in Birthdays. And my mom always finished my Birthday cake. 🫢😬😬
