Say No to Mental Illness Stigma

Mental illness is a topic that many people like to avoid, yet mental health and substance use disorders affect a great portion of the world’s population.

Very sadly still too many people in this world feel that mental illness is not a real thing, people suffering from anxiety disorders are told “Snap out of it and calm”, people with trauma are told “Just forget it, it’s in the past” or people suffering from OCD are told “Just be normal and don’t overdue this” to mention just a few examples. Statements like these invalidate the struggles of those who have to live with mental illnesses, make them look weak, lazy (sadly very common for hoarders) and sometimes even crazy.

Just because you can’t see my illness doesn’t mean it’s not there!

Just because you can’t understand a person’s illness it does not mean it’s not real!

Just because someone suffers from schizophrenia it does not mean they are crazy!
