My grandmother / grandfather had the greatest house. I liked it because I used to hide on them to be naughty. Now that I think about it, I was pretty mischievous.
They were always supportive of me.

Hiding somewhere and let others look for you was fun for many kids when I grew up so don't be hard on yourself about it 😊. Glad you had such supportive grandparents.

I could imagine growing up in a bigger family can be so much fun but also stressful at times when opinions are different.
My most memorable memory that I have from my grandfather was our walks to the house with many birds. That's what we called it, "la casa de los pajaritos". My grandpa only spoke Spanish. He would visit us for a month or so and go back to Mexico. He showed me to walk on the sidewalk not the street and if there was no side walk to walk on the curb to stay safe from cars. As we would approach the house with many birds... It was a colorful display of clay birds that were painted and mounted on a fountain. The fountain trickled calming water that soothed the city noise. The birds were so pleasing to see because the colors were contrasting. Their unique designs and patterns of color and creation gave me a sense of happiness. I loved holding my grandpa's hand as we both stood and studied the beautiful art pieces that would forever live in our memories. Rest in peace abuelito, te amo.

I don't have one. My "grandparents" weren't natural relatives; they took my mother in when she was in her early teens. She was, however, very much subordinate to their own children. Much later after my mother pushed me out into this world, when we went to family gatherings they were nice enough, on the surface... My grandfather was a more decent human being overall, I think. Grandmother was involved in local civics, on the PTA board when her sons & daughter were in school, etc., but it was basically a facade. I wasn't considered as valuable as their natural grandkids, either. What it came down to is this: They were northern California WASPs. My mother & I were not.

Sometimes we cannot choose our family we are born into or even we are adopted into and it can be difficult. 7cups became my family and I hope you feel welcomed here too.

Sorry, it was supposed to be August 16 to 22! We continued after the 16th and will continue after the 22nd too! 😀
My greatest memories are being able to go visit grandparents on both sides and great grandparents on my moms side. My great grandpa would teach us German words, take us fishing. Great grandma was a great cook and crocheted us mittens, scarves, doll clothes and was so loving. And my dads side grandma was always a good listener when I needed to vent and taught me how to make lots of awesome food. Grandpa would tell me stories of his life growing up. On moms side my grandpa always teased us and joked with us but was very stern. Grandma was a good cook and did crafts, she even taught me some sewing and crochet techniques.
I would spend nights or weekends with them. I looked forward to visiting with them.
