Hi, Peace,
That's a nice memory you have of your grandma.
I remember going to my grandma's house, which was right around the corner from our house. She made me tea, and offered me sugar. I put a whole pile of sugar in my cut, and she said in her english with a heavy hungarian accent, "you like shu-gah?" And she smiled a smile at me that showed a life time of wrinkles all over her face that looked like a map to her life. It was beautiful.

I didn't know my grandfathers. My grandmas lived far away. One thing I remember about one of them was she used the word "ain't" just because she knew she wasn't supposed to.

My maternal grandparents died when I was very young, but I do remember my grandmother’s homemade ravioli. I was a little older when my paternal grandparents died. They lived in another state, so we didn’t see them often. I remember the cherry tobacco scent of my grandfather’s pipe.

Sorry to hear about your grandparents, glad that you could keep those lovely memories of them. It must have been nice to smell that delicious aroma of cherry from your grandfather's pipe.
बह Awww you have raked such a plethora of memories about my 'Amma', my paternal grandma. My most endearing memory is of sleeping with her till age 10-11 and her regaling me with stories from her life and of my parents. She often renarrated them and the drama queen that she was, would add a new element to them each time. She's been gone for 31 years but it's all to fresh in my mind as the morning dew.

ohhh yes indeed was such a passionate and natural one at that.
My favorite memory is walking with my parents to visit my grandmother who lived in a neighborhood across town. We did it every Saturday and we walked to her house.

What is the best memory of your grandma or granddad?
Awe, what a great topic. I have one for each that just popped into my head. For my grandma... I can still see her lighting off firecrackers off the cement steps by the grainery. She put them under tin cans with the wick sticking out. Off they would shoot high in the air!! Grandma spent most of her time indoors...so it was great to see her come outside and play with us cousins.
Have a few with my grandpa... I think the most heartwarming was after grandma died, I went to stay with him and we'd sit for hours in the living room watching TV. He fell asleep reading his paper a lot. We didn't say a lot to each other. We just felt good in each other's company.

Grandma used to make the dough for scones on a little cutting board and then cook them in a cast iron frying pan like a dutch oven. Fresh scones and butter, yum.

Soooo many good memories. My grandparents would always play with me as a kid, taught me card games, baking, sewing, fishing, and so much more. I have this one memory of walking with my grandmother to a bakery in the city. I miss them all and think of them daily.
