How's is everyone doing? Are you all excited that we moved up to a Forum now? We keep up the great work hopefully we will move up to the next level soon!

We have been adding a lot of items to help everyone out lately like games, challenges, wellness, body, mind, things you enjoy about life, team tools, updates and our welcome section to welcome all the new folks. Hopefully a lot more folks will be joining us and participating and enjoying this group like we all do also. This is everyone's space to help us all grow in life and help each other out.

Thought this week we would talk about being mindful and how we do that. I know I listen to a lot of meditation and like to listen to the ocean. This is a link to what I was listening to today with several other items on the page that are also relaxing to listen to. Can you please share with us what you do to stay mindful and if you have a link or several links to share we are always looking for new ideas for ourselves to add to our collections to pull from.

If you have not already done so, please submit this short form to add or remove your name: https://tinyurl.com/ybyg3g3y

I like to listen to Thunderstorm sounds on Alexa when I have my eyes closed and am trying to decompress. It is so very soothing!

@carefreeHeart57

That is an interesting thing since we have those every once in a while here and we have a lot of lightening to go with it. I was taught early when I was young that the closer the booms are the nearer the storm is to us.

@DanaMH you heard right. If you count off one thousand , 2 thousand or watch a watch that shows seconds you can figure how close the storm is. If you count to 15 thousand or 15 seconds and divide by 5 the storm is about 3 miles away.

If you hear the thunder right after the lightning take shelter immediately it is in your neighborhood.

@carefreeHeart57 yes thunderstorms are great but I have to turn them down because thunder can hurt speaker if turned up too loud.

For some reason I can't watch traditional mindulness videos. They infuriate me with new age PC cheerfulness.

I found that I enjoy WATCHING a classic orchestra works as a mindfulness exercise for me.
Pay attention to the musicians moving in unison to keep the timing correct. Especially the string section.
I am mindful of how mindful a large orchestra has to be to work together to make something beautiful.

I watch this video more than any other on YouTube. It's my go to in order to relax.
Not only is the music good but there are also views of nature around the castle where they are playing.

@Positron2

That is so awesome, I also like watchinig the orchestra and at Christmas time they usually have several acts in town for us to watch which sounds so soothing. I agree the whole orchestra has to all work together to make beautiful music and it is very mindful and beautiful to watch. Videos are so awesome to watch when it goes to music. I will have to check out the link you sent since it sounds really interesting.

@Positron2 I hear you. There are times where I do not want words just something to lift my spirit. Now I am listening to a streaming youtube of piano playing. There are no words just hear the notes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLMHGjoxJdQ

@DanaMH

I recently started practicing mindfulness. To help me with my breathing I looped a recording of my dog snoring. It is light snoring and I find it very peaceful.

@DanaMH

I wonder if that's why we continue to snore as we get older? Seems like once it starts you do it for life...

It depends on weight and if you have Sleep Apnea. I was told lots of folks have Sleep Apnea and they never get it checked out.

I like music with variations of melody and range. Mostly contemporary, some Broadway songs. I am a beginning novice but sometimes I'm even able to connect and do a karaoke duet.@DanaMH

That is so cool. We went to a couple of plays that had music in them when my son was younger in Boy Scouts and that was so fun to watch.
