Angry Artichoke
So here I am again facing yet another death in my family 6/10 due to alcohol induced cirrhosis of the liver. This time my younger sister, last time my older sister (drugs involved too), the time before my Aunty. My mothers a alcoholic, drinking brandy everyday in a VA home, my husband missed my sisters funeral because he was passed out from drinking rum, having taken the whole week off for "me", a joke, I never even got a hug out of him.
I'm angry, sad, and scared that this fate may be my own, though I rarely drink alcohol for obvious reasons.
I wonder why is it that my destiny (fate, lot in life, etc.), is to be constantly surrounded by people that abuse substances?

Please do not believe that it is your fate to live in a situation like this because it isn't. @Artichokeheart, I also lost loved ones to alcoholism. My dad died at 40, due to alcoholism. That left me at age 9 without a father and of course with a mother that suffered from alcoholism, drug (pain killers) abuse, and depression (suicidal). You are absolutely right, there are patterns and generations of alcohol abuse in my family. The only good thing about this is our awareness of it, so as you already do stay as far away from that. I am deeply sorry for your loss. 💛 🌻🌼

I have myself wondered the same questions. My father, step-father, god-father and multiple other people in my family are alcoholic. It is very sad and frustrating to see people destroy themselves like this. But it doesn’t mean this will be your fate too. You are very brave for facing all of this!!
