Check In May 22-24th Memorial Day
Hi everyone. This weekend is Memorial Day in US. What does that mean? In many places, Memorial Day is a day to honor military people that sacrificed their lives for the good of the country.
But to expand the meaning further to include everyone, we can revere the memory of doctors and nurses that gave their lives to help save others in this pandemic and other health crises. We can remember those that fought a long and hard battle with cancer. We can remember those that fell victim to accidents of all kinds.
We can remember and revere those who are living, who teach us and inspire us, who show us by example how to live our lives as caring individuals. We can be grateful for how we endured difficulties in our lives and still have found a way to go on.

@soulsings I remember my grandad on my Mum's side. He taught me basket-weaving, how to grow things and to take life slowly and joyfully. He was awesome & I miss him very much.
@cal1860 I am sorry for your loss. Time does not erase the love we feel for people. I always felt grandparents cared for me. Maybe that is why I miss them so much.
My mom is no longer here I lost her in September of last year. I still don't believe I have got over it. I also am sorry for not doing the right thing. I went into the Navy and never went to Vet Nam. So someone went in my place and I'm sorry. Someone is on the wall because of me and I'm so very sorry.
@LostanLonely I am sorry for the loss of your mom. I am thankful for your service in the Navy. That was a wise choice because we now have the benefit of you here now. We all make choices and that is okay.
My dad joined the Navy in WWII and saw action. Lost his hearing in 1 ear. That was his fortune and I am proud of his service. He joined the Navy because he did not want to be a foot soldier, but ended up in the thick of it.
More people in US died in this pandemic than in Vietnam War. They did not choose to die but death took them and there is nothing we can say to change that. Thanks to all those who died in service of helping others.
@soulsings. This memorial day I will be at home rather than going to the cemetery where my daughter, mother in law, mom and dad are buried. Maybe the flowers have lived since we had lots of rain this last year. The cemetery will be open the first time during the pandemic and none of us needs to get sick. We will memorialize our loved ones who died by sharing a meal and memories at home. It's low key but it's what we have right now, and we're grateful for what we have.

I remembered my dad at his graveside 2 years ago. When I left I got the feeling that I can remember them anywhere. I think you are making a wise choice. None of them would want to see you get sick.
