@amiablePeace77 for Thanksgiving we always had a fried dough breakfast with real maple syrup. Food was a very big part of family gatherings. 

@amiablePeace77 I always enjoyed the holidays when I was younger and still do. I loved the work and effort my mom and step father did in putting the food together and making sure the dysfunction for that time was eliminated thereby allowing me to experience the true meaning of the holidays and most importantly what family as all About. Today I miss my mom and late husband who by the way was an excellent cook--it was only him and I but he would make 3 different meats put a large dinner together enough for 10 people. Good thing that man could eat and still remain thin. Today I look forward to the holidays and yet enjoy it more in quiet without all the noise and bring in the solitude while yet creating love of Family and grated to God for all he has done for my family, myself and all the people of the world.

@amiablePeace77 My younger self enjoyed sitting on the bed writing out dozen of Christmas cards--so much so I had to give one to every person I knew thereby causing me to start writing cards as early as September-sometimes mailing some out in September-boy did my mom get some comments on that. Listening to Christmas music or cartoons. One favorite religious movie I watched from my teen years up to this very day its been an annual ritual to watch Jesus of Nazareth and my favorite cartoon from back then is "Santa Clause is Coming to Town." I must say call it crazy but 60+ years later I still look forward to watching the shows. My children even grew up on them along with different ones shown for Easter. I also enjoyed being awoken early on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter as early as 6 am as my mom and step father of whom he decided thankfully to be sober. I would smell the aroma of the food cooking in the kitchen wanting so bad to go and sneak a piece of meat or some other food item without either of them seein’ me. I enjoyed preparing as a family to go to midnight mass and so much more. Today I have already enjoyed much of the thanksgiving event with my daughter and granddaughter and look forward to the next 3 events one of which will be my daughters birthday followed by Christmas and thanksgiving. I am one person no matter how old I get I have always enjoyed each and every holiday that occurs throughout the year and and I do my very best to take the spirit of each one not just this time of year to embrace and enjoy but I do all I can to take, feel and share it amongst others throughout the entire year. Who says we gotta only be in the moment of the spirit of the holidays only from Thanksgiving to New Years? Take that spirit with us every single day.

When you think of November, what are some things you recall enjoying from younger days? 

From my younger days I remember watching Thanksgiving themed episodes of my favorite shows as well as having the best Thanksgiving parties every year and having fun the whole time with other younger ones like my cousins and everyone else and we all just loved playing video games together haha! 

What is it you look forward to now?

Being thankful for and celebrating myself for being alive after everything I’ve gone through and always being there for me and others no matter what the situation is. Along with that, being thankful for and celebrating this community for all the good it’s consistently giving me since I joined it. Thank you everyone. Love and appreciate you all.
