Hey good people what would you consider a toxic relationship in married couples and how would you go about it. For instance insults, humiliation and dinial of conjugal rights for not just days but months.

@BlazeMarley A relationship can be toxic in many ways. The cases you mentioned are definitely good examples of that. Everyone's story is so unique so it's hard to specify what may be hypothetically toxic. The best thing to do is talk to a specialist about it so that they can guide you. Thank you for sharing!

I'm very sorry if this is a relationship you're in at the moment. Being insulted, humiliated and denied conjugal rights can have negative impacts on a person's well-being and even make them sick mentally and physically. If both parties are ready to work on the relationship getting the help of a counselor might help. Self care is very important to be able to go through the daily challenges.

@BlazeMarley I'd have to say abuse and not being respected is a personal/toxic issue to have, especially if you are married, You are supposed to show you are committed to each other, and hurting your love is just insolence.

@BlazeMarley

In a toxic relationship:

  • Things are usually one-sided in which one spouse always unloads on the other while they don't care to listen to their fellow spouse
  • That fellow spouse would always step on eggshells around that spouse
  • The spouse would constantly criticize the individual and tell them what they need to do to change
  • People like that always have the need to be right and are never wrong

Toxic relationships can also have effects on your physical health

@Summershy

yes, the eggshells thing! if i'm too afraid to speak up, there is no chance for any meaningful communication. just keeping up appearances.
