Weekend Check-In March 29-31, 2019

Hi everyone, how are you doing today, how was your week?
I wish you all a wonderful weekend and hope that you can enjoy the beginning of spring.
Spring is a great season to me, it's like nature is waking up from a deep sleep and showing itself in it's amazing beauty. I feel motivated, to me this is a time to get things done which I could not do in winter time. How about you. Have you planned anything in particular to do this spring, is there something you are looking forward to?

Hey Ami! Late Winter and early Spring is being very busy! Im hoping be mid April to take some time to do some short trips and learn a new art fort - how to make glass beads!!
Hello. It's pretty hot at my place. So I do my gardening quite early in the morning. Need to avoid the heat.
@faithlove1111
faith, I understand what you mean, I have to do the same thing. Early morning is best time to work in garden too.
What are you growing, if I may ask?
@amiablePeace77 . I have planted vegetables in my small garden. I have okra , bittergourd , tumeric, curry leaves and some leafy vegetables. I am practising organic gardening. Do you also garden?
@amiablePeace77 I am hoping to enjoy a nice warm relaxing weekend. Sometimes doing projects is more fulfilling than struggling to "have fun". I guess fun is anything that brings you joy.
Enjoy!
I hate spring. It means work. Everyone making their yard look nice. I dont care about my yard. Summer I can deal with, just a few long months away. But then the tourists come and thats another thing to deal with. Im tired of always dealing with things.
@Lauren63
Lauren, dealing constantly with things must exhaust you. Sometimes it's really better to just ignore or try to accept, at least in my opinion. Not easy to do though, takes practise. I am struggling with that too at times.
@amiablePeace77 you are liked here. I am not. I dont know why I even try. She was right. I am horrible. Good night.
I am not looking forward to summer like most ppl. More chores, like mowing, and I am not fond of temps over 80 degrees.
It was once my dream to move to Alaska to escape the heat. After researching the realities, the dream was dumped.
@Chickadee123. I'm with you on the summer heat. I don't tolerate extreme heat and humidity. But I live right in one of the most humid areas of the east coast. I'm not a big yard person but I do enjoy cutting my grass. It an immediate gratification for the work since you see the progress right away.
@Chickadee123
I can see what you mean, I suffer too when working in the heat so on hot days most of the work will be done early in the morning. Too hot is not good but too cold neither and Alaska can be very cold. It's good to do some research work before deciding to move to another country for sure, finding out as much as possible how it works there. Sorry that your dream did not come true though.
Have you planned anything in particular to do this spring, is there something you are looking forward to? Yes indeed. My GF and I are planning a trip to Yosemite. She is going up for the entire month of May, volunteering to help out. She is allowed to bring a guest for one week, guess who that will be. I expect to do a lot of hiking and probably play my guitar a lot. I don't really know for sure exactly what will be awaiting me, but I am sure it will all be fun.
@Offmytrack I hope your trip is the best. I would love to go to Yosemite and other western parks. Post some pics when you get home!
@Offmytrack
I have never been in this Park but it looks amazing on the internet. It's a great contribution to nature to spend volonteer vacation there and a wonderful opportunity for you too to experience the park for some days. I can image very well how much fun that must be. Maybe you can share some of your experiences when coming back.
Thanks for checking in. Ive had a cold, so my energy is s bit low. But, Ive had a good week and managed to attend a conference at my school and present at a class I might help teach. Looking forward to more spring warmth, choosing classes for school and organizing my home office.
@Zengrl , enjoy a nice bowl of chicken soup with some ginger and tumeric added to it. Works wonders when you are tired because of the flu .
@faithlove1111 I do make mock chicken soup and I have a fave tea called Sol Glo that is mostly turmeric and ginger. It does help. 🌞
@Zengrl , I guess you could be a vegetarian - I looking at the word ' mock chicken' . Try this vegetarian soup recipe.
@faithlove1111 Yes, I
@Zengrl
Hi everyone,
my temp job ended friday, and I am feeling a bit of grief over it. I called off the last day because a nice guy asked me out, and instead of dealing with this like an adult, I run and hide. It was a total surprise. I haven't been asked out for 20 years!
I would like to just have some girlfriends to chat with, have some giggles, and a steady job would be nice too.
Had a falling out with a lifelong friend last year. I wanted to try to talk things out then I realized that I was always the one putting the effort into this friendship. It was not like that long ago, but somehow along the way it was just the way it was. And I had not noticed. She also was my taxlady, and cut me no slack on her fees which was ok. Business is business.
So this year I decided to do my own taxes. It is not difficult, but tedious. I just finished them on paper, still going to e-file if it is possible to do on a mobile phone. I felt so proud of myself, then I started crying ... miss her, the 1980's version. Not the 2018 self centered arrogant $&@?! Gee, I hope that I am not aging into such a jerk, but I can be.....
I used to garden before depression. I have learned to stick with native flowers that tolerate my bad years. Like crocus, they return and give me joy some years, and other years barely noticed. Ya gotta be a survivor to be a plant around here.
@Chickadee123
What a good awareness to see what doing your own taxes brought up for you! I did my own taxes in 2015 and am still paying dearly for my mistakes, so I am totally impressed you did your own. I also am just looking for good girlfriends. I am DONE with romance. Have a great week.
@Chickadee123 sorry your job ended. That is a disappointment. Hope you find the work you are looking for.
If anyone asked me for a date I might have run but might have got their phone number in case I wanted to call them and start talking. Or just run.
@Chickadee123
Hi chickadee, sorry for late reply to your post.
Hope you find a new job soon in an area you feel passionate about.
I think it's normal to feel uncomfortable in going out with someone when you haven't done it for so long. You are not used to it anymore so it kinda learning again to do it. Sorry about your friendship, it is not okay if only one side is putting all the effort into it and the other side does not seem to think there is a requirement to participate too, that sucks. It's great that you make yourself independant and to the tax on your own, not the most exiting thing but I you can be proud of having done it!
Gardening is great and using native plants is smart gardening
. Depression is hard to deal with so anything what helps is good to integrate into our days. Hope your will start it again. Do you grow vegetables too?
