Health Challenge Sun light
Do you get enough sun light?
Its summer time and most of us get enough, even more enough sun light – but what about later in the year. Sun light (in safe ways/amounts) is very important for maintaining optimal vitamin D levels apart from food sources and it helps to prevent weakening our bones.
Do you find yourself getting out of the house less or even much less than before and thereby not profiting from the healthy type of sun?

Memart by me.
I don't get much sun because medication side effects give me sun / heat stroke.
I substitute for sun with my Seasonal Affective Disorder therapy lamp.
An hour or 2 every morning does a good job of resetting my circadian rythm body clock so I sleep at night and wake in the morning.

@Positron2
Hi Posi
, you seem to find good solutions for your needs
. I too cannot take a lot of sun so I will be very careful when and how much I take.
@Positron2
That is such an awesome picture with the sun that you shared with us. Sorry that you can't get out in the sun like a lot of folks but I am glad to hear about the light that you have.
@Positron2
Cool dose it work good?
@GuardianAngel77
I was a sceptic, but it actually works well. You just have to be disciplined to do it everyday like taking medications.
I have sleep apnea and no sleep hygiene. Meaning I sleep in naps at random times day or night.
The SAD lamp helps me go to bed around midnight and wake up in the morning.
@Positron2
That's really great that it works!! 😊😊😊!
I'll will look into this! 😊😊😊!
@Positron2
wow, Posi~! my sleep is like that, CPAP and all... i have to admire your discipline~! i just let it run its course.
my doc put me on Vitamin D and it cleared up a lot of my 'intestinal' issues~ i was soooo surprised~!
she said many americans are 'D' deficient. there's a really good vitamin D3 called Nature Made, that's reasonably priced, if anyone wants to try vitamin therapy.
@amiablePeace77 I feel better when the sun is out but 4 cloudy rainy days and I am searching for signs of the sun
@soulsings
Yes I do to! 😊😊😊!
@GuardianAngel77 glad to hear that!
@soulsings
Yes thank you! 😊😊😊!
Im inside quite a bit and supplementary D is important for me.
@JolivetteListens
Hi Jolivette, Vitamin D is surely one of the good alternatives when not getting out.
You take care of yourself ![]()
@amiablePeace77 Thanks!
@amiablePeace77
Hello Peace!
I've never liked to lay down under the sun nor when i was 20.
I like to go outside for walks and if i had a garden where i live I would enjoy staying in it as well, so overall i think i enjoy sun-light more than its rays.
For vitamin D we all can check its level with a blood-test so eventually doctors can suggest us how to integrate it and the dosage.
Cheers!
@BeyondTheInvisible
Hi Beyond, I agree direct sunlight can be very damaging, healthy sunlight, e.g. in the morning is good to me but I get into the house at 10 am edt at the latest.
@amiablePeace77 sunlight helps me feel good but too much sun is not good for my skin.
@soulsings
I agree, it feels good but in moderation and for some in very small amounts
@amiablePeace77 yes or when the sun is lower in the sky.
@amiablePeace77 I garden, so I do get sunlight, but after gardening season, I tend to not be out unless necessary.
@inventiveHouse2965
Hi inventive, gardening helps not only to get outside but I find it is very relaxing too. Hope you got something to balance the lack of sunshine/vitamin D after garden season.
@inventiveHouse2965 yes me too and if I do have to stay out long I wear a hat and cover up.
I try to enjoy nice sunny days as much as I can. The sun really helps me feel like myself. Recently it's been kinda rainy and that's been tough. When the sun goes away and it's snowy or rainy I tend to be tired and extremely unmotivated.
@JSym
It's kind of challenging when you feel sun is energizing you and you are not getting it anymore. Ever thought about light therapy? something people with SAD use?
