So this is first post, please be kind, just turned 50. Is anyone else amazed they got to this age? I never thought I'd make it to this age given all the challenges of the past.

At 40, I'm just shocked by how quickly the time has passed. I feel like just a blink-of-an-eye ago, I was still in my twenties. My wife teases me. "come on, old man, let's catch the earlybird special at Dennys." Now I'm at the halfway point. I'm nowhere close to where I'dhoped to be, but, as John Lennon said, "life is what happens while you're busy making other plans." My Mom is in her sixties now and she laughs at my shock. "40 ain't nothin," she says.

I am also 50, and have to say I'm proud to be part of the "50 and over community." Many of my friends are older than me. Now I look at people who are in their 70s and 80s and still active and engaged in lots of activities and think, "Yeah, that's gonna be me someday!" And I just got an email from a 90-year-old woman who used to be my friend and next-door neighbor (she's still my friend, no longer neighbor) who tells me that she still enjoys gardening, walking, and just recently started playing pickleball. She's my hero!

So yeah, welcome to the community!
