@Laura I learned that no matter what happens to me, I can control how I react. It has taken practice, but not exploding in anger or malice at what other people say or do has made me feel more confident in my ability not to be run ragged by my emotions. For me mindfulness has played a big part in that. I am thankful that 7cups has mindfulness discussions that make these skills available to anyone who is interested.

To put myself first! Took me awhile and I still stuggle from time to time. But I'm happy I learned it.

@Tinycupcake self care is most important. Just like the airline stewardess says, take your oxygen mask first when they drop down and then you can help other people with theirs.
