Community Affirmations

I've found affirmations to be the pick me up that I need on a bad day, or the empowerment to keep me going on a good one. Something that I used to do was write them on sticky notes and put them around a mirror or somewhere else I would see frequently, so I was thinking, why not let this post be our community's "mirror" that we can all contribute to?

"Even if I fall back one day, I'm not stuck there forever."

"It's okay to start small."

@InternalAcceptance Yes, affirmations can make a huge difference when it comes to recovery. I love the ones you share esp. in starting small; every step counts!

"Every new day is another chance to change your life"

"Change is always possible"

My affirmations for today:

The sun will rise tomorrow; so will I.

The decisions that I have made do not have to define my future.

I deserve to live.

Everyone deserves to forgive and be foriven, including myself.

Everyone goes at their own pace.

Recovery does not discriminate.

One of my recovery affirmations is "tread softly". It's actually based on this song.

I know I have a tendency to jump into things quite quickly, be a little too intense and push people away, and take on too much work at a time. I've gotten myself into trouble more times than I'll ever remember because of this tendency of mine. This affirmation reminds me to take it easy and to keep life manageable.

"Things may not always get better but they will always get different." My dad used to say this to me a lot. I've found it to be comforting, in an odd way. Even different is a breath of fresh air sometimes; a break from the chaos.

I wanted to take a few moments to share this powerful quote for anyone who may be facing fears in their lives. It's from a book called Dune.

I'm the mother of an addict who is in recovery.... I've been trying to do everything to help and support my son. Any advice or suggestions would be great. It's been a really really long road and i'm sooo lost.

@Lotus0205 I'm sorry that you're having such a difficult time. Supporting an addiction can be very exhausting. There are quite a few resources. You're welcome to join the community as a whole, where there are many friends and family members of addicts and there is also a list of resources that I would encourage you to look at here. Take care of yourself. heart
