Any PMDD sufferers, I need help or someone to speak with
For those who don't know what PMDD is here's a page by the Mood Disorders of Ontario that explains it well. (https://www.mooddisorders.ca/faq/premenstrual-dysphoric-disorder-pmdd). It's basically PMS on steroids and is very similar to bi-polar disorder (from my personal experience anyway) basically just before and during my menstrual cycle I feel like my world is falling apart. I just need someone to talk to about it but its pretty rare and no one seems to understand how I feel about this.
Hello Dingo, I suffer from PMDD for 4 years now.
When I was on antidepressants my PMDD symptoms went away entirely and it was a blessing. But since I dropped the pills they're coming back. It was so bad last week that I had to postpone an important exam and skip work days.
You're right in that no one else seems to get it. Last year I was forced by circumstances to explain it to my boss and she said "that's not a thing!" so... yeah, I know the feeling.
I hope there are others here who can share their experiences/tips.

Some people think it is not real, which just adds even more to the frustration!
I don't really know if I have PMDD, a lot of the symptoms match, but i really don't know. I have major anger issues and flares usually happen within two weeks of my cycle. I hate to throw a pill at you ladies, but really, try Bach's Rescue Remedy, it's a mixture of herbs and flowers that comes in a liquid, gum, or gummy candy. It works within 10 minutes to calm the worst feelings, boost mood, and help with pain and stomach upset. It really works! Just chewing helps me!
@DingoCrazy
I moved your post to the classifieds section so many people can see your'e looking to chat. Thanks!
I'm not sure if you are looking for a listener or another member. I am a listener, but I also struggle with PMDD. I would be willing to talk with you if you would like. :)
Also, I don't think PMDD is that rare. From my understanding, it is fairly common, though not talked about very much.
@DeniseB It's my understanding that PMDD affects a small percentage of women, #s vary (I've read 3-8% or 5-10%).
I was diagnosed with PMDD in my mid-20's, but looking back, I'm pretty certain I've had it since puberty. It explains a LOT about my adolescence, why sometimes I was okay and sometimes I felt like a raving lunatic bitch.
I read a really helpful book a while back called The PMDD Phenomenon.
I also think it's possible that women with PMDD might also be highly sensitive (HSP), since HSPs are about 15-20% of the population. I have no evidence to back that up, it's just a hunch.
