“Positive psychology is the scientific study of what leads to human flourishing. Research shows that happiness is directly related to having a purpose in life, positive relationships, and a more optimistic outlook.

Positive psychologists have been studying how to add more positivity to our lives for the past decade. The result is an emerging field that offers many strategies for boosting well-being and achieving life goals. If you want to boost your happiness, try these 6 suggestions…

Have Meaning and Purpose in Your Life

Meaning and purpose have a strong connection to happiness. If you feel that you have a meaningful life, you are more likely to be happy. Having meaning and purpose doesn’t mean that you have to have a life-long dream or be famous. It can be something small, like helping out your friend with their science project, or volunteering at a local animal shelter. The key to finding meaning is to discover what you are passionate about, what you are good at, and what you can do for other people.

Cultivate Relationships with Kindness

Strong, positive relationships have been shown to be the most important factor in boosting happiness. It’s not what you do for a friend that matters, but what friendship does for you.

Be Mindful and Stay Away from Negativity

Being mindful is a practice that is designed to bring awareness to your present moment experience. It has been shown to decrease negative emotions and increase well-being. When you’re mindful, you are not focused on the past or the future. You are not thinking about what happened during your day, or what you need to do tomorrow. Instead, you are focused on the present moment. You are focused on what you are feeling, seeing, hearing, tasting, and smelling right now.

Help Others and Be Grateful for What You Have

Helping others has been shown to be the number one predictor of happiness. Research has found that people who frequently help others are significantly happier than people who do not.

Exercise and Eat Healthily

There are many benefits to exercising on a daily basis. A growing body of research suggests that regular exercise can significantly boost your happiness. It can help you deal with stress, improve your mood, sleep better, and increase your feelings of self-worth. It can also help you reduce feelings of anxiety, improve your attention, and increase your ability to focus.

Take Care of Your Physical and Mental Well-Being

To live a happy life, you need to take care of your physical and mental well-being. This means getting enough sleep and eating a healthy balanced diet.”

I am going to try and implement 'being mindful and staying away from negativity'

This is hard for me, although quite positive when it comes to my personal mindset I my worst enemy. I am very negative.

I struggle with mindfulness, I am not patient or aware/ intune with that which truly matters most

@innateJoy9602

I'm going to double down and choose a couple, because I slacked off in the middle of the gratitude challenge, and suffered physically and mentally due to abandoning my routine.

>Physical and Mental wellbeing/mindfulness: I'm going to get back to journalling 3 good things each day, and the reason why the three good things happened each day.

>Exercise and eat right: I'm going to try to do better about daily exercise, pushing myself to do more than the 5-minute stretches I've only been doing when in pain, and try to stop eating too much before bed at the end of my work shift when I should instead be focussed on mindfulness practice and the aforementioned journaling.

I kinda slacked off due to an increase in the other areas listed here, but some of it has been too much, for example: giving too much time and energy to a friend who is not actively trying to appreciate what they have more, who in turn tends to leave me feeling a bit drained or even overwhelmed. I have other friends who I can build my relationships with, who have healthy discussions with me about the things they cherish in life.

@ThadSterling

I love how you stated that you are going to try a couple!

I think journaling is such a great way to implement mindfulness! I also journal to practice it!

Also, I hear you on the exercising and eating right! I also need to get on that track. I think daily exercise could be very beneficial and a great idea!

Additionally, I like that you are able to recognize where and to whom to give your energy to! <3💛💫
