Hello all, welcome to the forum discussion! About every 3 days or so, we will post a new question. We look forward to hearing your answers and thoughts.

We will post the community taglist for the first, fourth, and seventh questions. Current participants will be tagged with each question posted.

For this discussion, were going to be talking about all types of addictions and the media. The media talks about addictions through reality television, fictional T.V. shows, tabloids, on the news, along with various other outlets. The media can sometimes present a certain image of addiction that some people dont question and it can be important to discuss our experiences compared to whats being presented.

Question 1: There are some reality shows, such as Intervention, that have been very popular for years. Do you feel that shows similar to that give an accurate representation of addiction? Why or why not?

Thank you all for your responses! Moving on to our next question:

Question 2: If you were able to change shows to be more accurate about addiction, how would you do so?

To make them more realistic, shows could offer a larger variety of people with different cases. They could also highlight current statistics.

Question 3: There have been an abundance of shows on cable television as well as Netflix series that have included characters that are addicts. What shows have you seen where the character has accurately portrayed your experience? What characters have you felt have been inaccurate?
