Rock Bottom
I'm giving this app a shot to see if it helps me in some way. I have an issue with alcohol I'm getting blackout drunk on regular intervals it's starting to take toll on my life. Not sure how this app works but I assume people reach out and chat. Please if someone reads this and has time, please help out.
Take it one day at a time there’s plenty of people to talk to on this app it has helped me tremendously and hope it helps you

do you understand what makes you drink?
what do you get out of it ?... you are not making progress when blackout drunk forgetting your issues is not solving them.
i understand the ability to numb and block out items but you also see the toll it is taking on your life......drinking is a tough one especially if you are around other drinkers etc....
look longer the health issues that frankly could shorten your life.... i call it slow @$$ suicide.
recovery from alcohol is very hard there is temptation all around every time i do out to dinner staff asks if we want a drink ... many gatherings with friends that do not get it say one glass of wine wont hurt you or it is just on beer etc.
you know it is a problem you admit it by asking for help the next step is to find ways to avoid triggers and work on the item you are trying to avoid it is always still there after you sober up right.
My drinking started as a teenager, it was a coping mechanism. I've been a drinker for 20 years over the last few years it's become out of control...the only days I don't drink is when I'm too hungover to drink. I mostly drink because I like how it feels when I start getting drunk, I get energy my mood improves and I can do stuff. I obviously have alot of underlying childhood trauma that needs addressing but I mostly now drink for the feeling. Alcohol and my dopamine levels love each other.
I'm trying to get sober, I failed at AA, lost my sponsor, I realize now it's impossible to go at it alone and I need to have someone who I can be accountable too to save my life. I'm well aware of the damage I have done to my health and wellbeing I deal with that dayly.I need someone I can confide in and chat to almost on a daily basis. I have no one, I'm alone in this life and its not a good place to be

i admire you reaching out there are good listeners but i had to go through a few before finding a great one. same goes with counselors and therapists ...... it is often NOT the first one you come across... i understand the beginning to get drunk feeling the energy and the good mood but that is fleeting and goes away all too fast IMO
Hello. Thanks for sharing. Hope you get to feeling better.
Congratulations man you've taken the first step you haven't made it you have a problem that is controlling your life now it's time to give it to your higher power. First step I would say it's reached out like you have going till 12:30 meeting AAA are the perfect way to start you get great support and great guidance and they were there for you I promise you taking it one day at a time or 1 hour at a time or one minute at a time will help as well

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling right now. Many people don't know that alcohol addiction can be successfully treated w medications. There are meds that can make you physically ill if you drink, then there's meds like naltrexone that block the effects of alcohol and Topamax that reduce the craving to drink. I would talk w a doctor about trying a treatment plan to increase your success rate. There are alternatives to AA as well. There's SMART recovery which is science-based and Refuge Recovery which is a Buddhist take on AA. They both have similar formats but different messages than AA. I wish you luck on your journey.
