What is your idea of spending a balanced time on 7cups? Share your idea of how a good day looks like on 7cups, for you.

My idea of balanced time means giving time to each area of my life that is important to me. For me, some of these areas are: caring for myself, my family, my home, my pets, my work, and others.

A good routine that is working for me is: the first 2 hours of my day are dedicated to myself and my personal life. After that is settled, I’ll jump online to create any posts for the day, check any tags, and finally respond to PM’s. Once I’m caught up, I go offline for the bulk of the day to do things in my life. * If I have a chat session, I plan on arriving 15 minutes early (to check messages, etc) and I plan on spending another 15 minutes after the session to chat with anyone from the session that might need some personal attention. I save my ‘’chat for fun”time for the end of the day (when everything around home is settled for the day).

What challenges did you face in trying to strike that balance?

Wow, I had a rough time finding that balance. I made a LOT of rookie mistakes, lol. I felt like I “needed” to be here “in case someone needed me”. I took on lots of roles and then felt like I “had to meet my quotes”. I actually burned out working like this.

How did you try to deal with those challenges?

I realized that I can not give to someone else when my Cup is empty. I needed to step away from the keyboard and manage Me first, then I had something to share with others. Shifting my focus from ‘Roles’ to People made all the difference too!!!

What are the benefits of improving your balance for the time you spend on cups?

The benefits of improving the Cups / Life balance have been amazing!!! I feel more relaxed and less stressed while here. It’s empowering to know that I’ve set boundaries for myself and have been able to stick to those boundaries. It gives me a sense of control over how I spend my time.

What message would you like to give to the cupsers who have come to be negatively attached to cups, in one of the many ways?

  • This is a question that I had to ask myself when I hit empty / burnout:

What is your motivation for being on Cups?

For me, I realized that I was hiding from my life in some ways. It was easier to be here talking with people than to do other things: finding ways to show myself love and care; picking up the phone to call a support person in my offline life, or even doing things in life that I had been procrastinating on.

  • Want to find out if you may be addicted to Cups? Try taking a break for a short period (a day or a weekend). Can you do it? If not, it may be time to ask yourself about your own motivation for being on Cups.

Loved reading the interview, @Sher217

I am glad you are taking time out for your precious offline life too now(:

I want to quote something so good you said-

"I needed to step away from the keyboard and manage Me first, then I had something to share with others. Shifting my focus from ‘Roles’ to People made all the difference too!!!"

Thanks for those reflections, Sher!<3
