A Talk on Self-Care with Vroom

December 25th, 2021

Interviewee: @vroomvrooom

What is your idea of spending a balanced time on 7cups? Share your idea of how a good day looks like on 7cups, for you.

To have a balanced time in cups, we need to understand what we wish to balance it with i.e. other functions / work which form a part of our daily life and how important they are for us to accomplish. Unless we answer this question first, we will not be able to bring about a balance in cups.

My idea of a balanced time at cups would be to be here only when I truly feel I can contribute in a meaningful way and exit when I can't, when I am here not at the cost of ignoring the requirements/ priorities of my offline life, but rather when I have time to allot to cups after ensuring I have attended to my offline priorities. Basically, when I am not here for the sake of being here, but making the best use of my time.

What challenges did you face in trying to strike that balance?

The challenges I face when striking a balance is struggling with my own addiction to cups, when I feel only cups can give me comfort and I sadly end up ignoring my offline priorities in favor of being in cups. This is never a good approach, which I am trying to work on.

How did you try to deal with those challenges?

To deal with the challenges, we first need to understand how our time in cups is impacting other areas of our life and in what manner. It will be only then will we be able to seriously focus on finding out a solution. I set a no chat rule during weekends. This gives me time to focus on the needs of my family. And, I have been fairly successful with that. Another thing I have done in the past is to log out of cups (not just close the window, but log out) and log in only after I complete the task in hand. This seemingly small act has helped me to focus better. It's like I say to my mind, cups can happen later, right now my other task is more important. Basically, it's again all about priorities and prioritising those priorities.

What are the benefits of improving your balance for the time you spend on cups?

Benefits of balancing is: it helps with us being more disciplined and focused. We make plans, are more focused on what is more important and what isn't. It makes it easier to stay away from cups for prolonged periods of time when we learn to balance and prioritise. Balancing also helps to take our learnings from cups and utilise them in our offline lives.

What message would you like to give to the cupsers who have come to be negatively attached to cups, in one of the many ways?

As Stephen Covey famously said in his book "Seven habits of highly effective people", where one of the points says, "Put first things first". Unless we understand our goals in life and align them with our goal of being in cups, we will be never able to bring about the required balance. Time is extremely precious and we need to be careful how we use it with what end result.

Our time in cups should be productive. It should help us grow or enable others to grow. If we are not doing this, perhaps we really need to assess why we are here.

Thankyou for posting, @Fristo ! 😊

Vrooomieee, I always look forward to hearing your thoughts on things, given your experience and your dedication ~ you put across your thoughts and what is it that you'd like people to know so well.

This interview is only another instance where I am simply in awe to hear what you said. I like your honesty and openness to share things from your own experience. You highlighted an awesome thing, putting first things first ~ not just in 7 cups but in life in general as well, everything I've observed, only comes down to having goals set for ourselves, a clear priority list and then simply taking the steps to achieve our goals and continually put time and efforts in our priorities. Thanks for emphasizing its importance yet again and for sharing your valuable insight, @vroomvroom ! ❤
