Binge Drinking and dating
I have a problem with alcohol. Let me say it again, I have a problem with alcohol. Ive finally admit that to myself.
Im realizing it even more after Ive been going through withdrawals these past 3 days. Ive been having night sweats and I havent slept in 3 days. I think I slept last night for 10min at a time but Im not sure because Im exhausted.
I go on these binges because I dont want to deal with the hangover but all I do is prolong the inevitable. Each time I tell myself I should just deal with the hangover but 4 days of binging later Im paying the price.
I sleep all day and my friends end up not hearing from me.
Specifically the guy Im dating. He broke up with me because he couldnt be with someone who has a drinking problem. But he has decided that he still wants to be there for me because he still cares about me.
I just wonder, does he really care? Why would he end things if he did? Can I salvage this? I ask him this question and he says I need to focus on getting better before I can focus on us.
I know I can stop drinking, but then my friends stop inviting me out..... The reason I drank this last weekend was because my military friends invited me out to drink and I feared that if I didnt they wouldnt invite me out again. But then it became a binging weekend for me.
can anyone relate ? Any advice on my relationship? Any advice on my friends ? I cant afford to binge again. I hate this withdraw. This is at its worst.
thanks

Do you have any support in going through withdrawals from a medical doctor or a mental health professional?
I don't have experience going through withdrawals. But I know that sometimes, if you've been used to drinking quite a bit over time, you're more likely to experience withdrawals. Also, they can be dangerous in certain cases, so it might help to see a doctor about it to see if they can prescribe you something to help with sleep, etc., temporarily, when you're experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
Regarding your relationship, I think it might be best for you two to take a break so you can focus on getting in control over your addiction. What do you think you should do?
To me, it seems like you're doing the right thing by reaching out for help on this site, so good job for doing that!
