Reccently, I met someone on here who is a smoker as am I. Its the one habit I have yet been able to kick and I have been so doubtful of my own ability to stop. This person has joined with me and we have chosen the date of April 9th to fully stop! I admit I have fears and doubts, but I am excited and will not give up! Thank you quit buddy! You are a hero to me! @practicalMaple4544 If anyone would like to join us, please message me. Together we can help each other!

So proud of you both! My dad quit last year after being a smoker for most of his life, so I understand the addiction. We are here for you two and anyone else needing support. Best wishes to you both, and congrats on deciding to make this profound decision.

Forgive me for not replying unti now, but I have had surgery and am on some recovery time... I have stopped and failed a few times, but have not given up! I have taken these failures and turned them into lessons and triggers to avoid rather than just going back to smoking. Its going to be a bit of ajourney for me but whew.. if it was easy everyone would do it lol

@Pumpkin74

Thank you! <3 Encouragment can help so much in hard times such as quitting a nasty habit lol. I have noticed I am not so easily cranky lol, and as well I am gaining a bit of weight. I do find myself bored at times as I dont go out as much anymore lol. As for the cravings, I just told myself no, and switched my mind around and did my best to focus on something different. I switched to candy instead lol, but Im not addicted, just something to suck on to keep my mind of that motion. Also I tried smoking some tea as well. It did some wonders for me. Just doing the motion and inhaling something different got rid of the craving.

@SoulSupporter102

I think you're like me in the addction is more of a motion and habit rather than the nicotine itself. Im sure we had that but the feel of smoking as well as the other physical motions is what I crave most. I am doing well and I know this becasue when I tried to sneak one, I was so light headed it and was like omg LOL It didnt feel good

Sorry you started again. Its surely a lifetime commitment. I know its easy to pick the habit back up. First, I think remembering why you want to quit as well as making the decsion to do so is important. Then pick a date. Remember what got you started again and relearn your triggers. You know, its mostly a mental thing after the first 3 days so find new things that will help you. We are here to support you through this! :)

@Darcside

Im doing much better than the first few days LOL. I still crave it but I noticed my clothes smelled like smoke and stuff so I washed all of my jackets and things. I think I miss the actual feel of smoking rather and the way it occupies me while I do things. I am sure that there will be hard days, but I feel like I can breathe better and I noticed my allergies arent as bad. I noticed it when I was walking and was thinking I feel like i had albuterol lol.. Wow.. didnt realize how much of a difference it made

@Pumpkin74 thats great! Good for you :) Im the same way. I like the action of smoking and where I work, my patients get 11 smoke breaks a day so Im always around it. Which is fine because I dont like cigarettes anymore but I always find myself going out there with them to vape

@Darcside

I get that... Vape is just as bad and can be worse according to my pulmonologist and anesthesiologist. (I had to see them before surgery because I am a smoker lol) They are starting to get some data about vaping and its causing some issues. I didnt get into vaping but my son did for a while and had issues.

While most people don't show distress from vaping, as time passes, they are learning that the water entering the lungs as well as the chemicals are just as bad. I think its a no win situation. We try to find things to help us and yet, we are left empty handed... I just wish I had the will power of someone who is like "Im done." They just dont go back lol

I guess there are no better remedy yet against smoking than vaping, it is veeery effectively, safe and relatively cheap. I found many adherents at this community https://www.vapingforums.com/ , most of guys there successfully gave up smoking precisely due to e-cigs.

Any addiction is really hard to quit and it's great that now it's possible to find help in this community or from https://addictionresource.com/drug-rehab/ . It's really easier to give up your addiction when you can literally find a step-by-step guide, get help from doctors or talk to people with similar problems.
