How do I get out?
Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I'm 25 yrs old and maybe I just don't want to admit it but I think I have a gambling addiction. It all started years back, and last year, I lost a significant amount of money. I told myself that I would stop, but then every time when something triggers me like an ad or a post that somebody won big through gambling, it would lead me back to try again. I was able to stop doing it for a few weeks, and then last night, I went back at it again -- I lost another significant amount of money. I wanted to stop. I always remind myself that no one wins in gambling, but I think I'm always hopeful that somehow, I would win and get back what I lost. I wanted to stop. This is not me anymore. This is my first time sharing what I've been going through, and I shared to strangers. I'm not the type of person who is vocal and shares their problems, but I think it is much better to share it to someone I don't know. I feel a bit relieve while typing this. I need some advice to be better. I want to be better and stop this cycle.

Thank you for your honesty 💛
That's the first step.
It's important to join a local group to start to get support and accountability and to find ways to stop before you sink any deeper.
I genuinely wish you the best 💛

@Amanda84
Thanks, Amanda -- I've been hanging out in this platform lately, and talking to a listener helps lighten the heavy feeling I have 🥹

I'm genuinely so happy to hear that 💛

Talking about this, was the first step. But, I want to take a moment to point out how much courage you have, by making your first post here. That takes real strength. Talking about these things takes so much resilience, in which you are; resilient.
7 Cups has group discussions, forums like this, and Listeners are always here for you (Glad to hear that a Listener has been helpful!). There is resources inside 7 cups and local resources in your community (if accessible). Also seconding what @Amanda84 mentioned, local groups are super helpful resources to get support :)! Your not alone in this. We are all here for you.
