How to deal with it?
Hi all,
Im here to share a bitter experience of my sister. She was in a serious relationship with a guy in her school. Due to some personal issues, they broke up and this made her lonely and depressed. She started the usage of weed and alcohol in order to get distracted from her relationship. It seems things are getting more serious nowadays, she is showing intense anger and violence at times. I dont know whether its the effect of the weed or she have any mental issue. Im confused. I think, she is addicted to alcohol, she became a full-time drinker. Do I need to get her into a psychiatrist or should I consider any addiction treatment centers? Im searching for an addiction treatment center in Toronto which can provide a solution for both of her problem. How should I choose the best treatment for her? Please help.
I'm really that this is happening to her! :(
The first step is usually admitting that there is a problem. The most effective way for her to overcome these issues is for her to want to overcome them. If she fights against any treatment, it will make things much much tougher.
Have you tried talking to her and seeing if she believes that she has a problem with alcohol?
first make her calm and try to consult with a psychologist, she should not be addicted
Hi @barbaralee456
This is a tricky situation where you want to do the best by your sister but your actions at this stage may not be appreciated.
The only person who can help your sister is herself, she is going through a grieving process at the moment and sounds like she is reaching out for anything that will take her mind of things. We are not able to control other people's thoughts or actions, if only we could! We can not force people to do things they don't want to do, they have to want to do it for themselves.
I understand you are worried for your sister, that's understandable, however I think by you being there, holding her hand and supporting her emotional needs is just enough to right now. Perhaps you can have a conversation about her habits, maybe even get some leaflets containing information so she is able to read and make her own decision, but right now, she just might need you as a sister and not a therapist.
You can still be there for her, support her, you don't have to agree with what she is doing, and you can make that clear to her, but let her know you still love her no matter what, and you want to help her.
Good luck
I am feeling very sorry to read this post. Sometimes, if we want something and we are unable to get it then we become depressed with these things. But we have to make sure that we will not lose hope. You have to take your sister to a good health expert. You have to do new things for her so that she will enjoy the new things. For related information, you can find on wellnessshot. There is some addiction care center, they provide full support to addicted people. You can try such things for her.
