Marijuana Problem

I hate to post this or even draw attention to this topic because I don't want to put medical marijuana in a bad light. I know cannabis is not physically addictive, and that almost everything can be psychologically addictive. That being said, I am having a serious issue with marijuana and I don't know how to get help. Most addiction communities (and local irl support groups) are centered around hard drug abuse and I dont feel like I fit it. These people are struggling with addiction in a physical sense, where I am psychologically depended on a plant. I smoke almost everyday, I chain smoke and will smoke tobacco/cannabis mixed joints back to back for HOURS. I can easily smoke 1/2 ounce on a weekend. I usually buy in $40 amounts which last me maybe 2 days max. When I'm not smoking I wish I could and when I'm smoking alot of the times i wish i didnt start. I get demotivated, tired, dont want to go outside or interact with people. I have a hard time waking up in the morning and am currently unemployed because I got up an hr late for work. But I cant fall asleep at night unless I smoke to a certain point, which I know has to be affecting my ability to get up in the morning (though I've never been a morning person). But there are times where I have smoked a small amount and have had a great productive day but most of the time I cant stop and will smoke all d. It doesnt help I'm in a failing relationship and am constantly depressed either. Not sure where to turn?

@LovePups24 Don't feel bad I was addicted to marijuana too for damn near 18 years. It took away a lot in my life mostly my motivation. To me weed helps me get through the problems it creates. Meaning it took away my motivation, I became more isolated, anxious, depressed. Then I would smoke to take that depression and anxiety away. It was a big never ending circle. Not to mention my brain is a lot slower. I will just freeze in the middle of sentences because I can't think of a simple word. I could go on and on. Starting weed is one of the biggest regrets of my life. I'm not saying weed is bad but for me it is. It's about realizing that. I have tried unsuccessfully to quit more than 1,000 times. It's always the first 5 days that is hardest. Sleep, anger, irritability, etc... for me it's about getting through the first 5 days then it became a lot easier. Then my brain was so much clearer it was an eye opener and it becomes so much easier. Also not sure if you smoke blunts but that used to be all I smoked. And that's way harder to quit because you also quitting the tobacco. I finally quit blunts and haven't smoked one for 5 months. I still smoke out of a bong or occasional joint but if I want to stop for a day or week or longer it is easy to do now and I don't become some monster in need of weed. Hope this helps in any way. Good luck!!!!

Hey I know what you mean. When I first started to question if I was addicted to marijuana and went to rehab (only after it progressed past marijuana), I felt like everyone would judge me since it's apparently a "soft" drug. It actually CAN be physically addictive, there's a condition people may develop called Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome. It took over 3 years and so many expensive hospital visits before I came to accept that maybe this is a real thing. You'd think I would quit after that. I was smoking literally all day every day to just deal with everything. I basically became Towelie from south park. I still struggle daily, and am not in the best place to be giving advice I just wanted to reassure you that you are not alone, only 2 days sober here.

@LovePups24

I thought it was supposed to be calming so you might need calm...

I smoked weed once in Paris and had no effect on me, I don't know why substances have no effect on me...

What is making you hectic that you want to calm smoke 40 times a day?
