Relationship Addiction/ codependency/ Fear of Abandonment
I really need help in stepping away from this grip that fear of abandonment has on me. My relationship with my husband is emotionally abusive, and before I could take it, happened only approx 4x a year. But ever since Covid started the fights became more frequent. I have OCD/Anxiety making this even worse. When fear of abandonment is triggered the amount of anxiety I get is I think not even close to normal. Pls help.

Hello! Sending big hugs and empathy to you. Abandonment can be a terrifying and overwhelming feeling, I agree it is nowhere near close to normal anxiety. What helped me the most was getting diagnosed with Complex PTSD. Even without a diagnosis you can look into this and find books and/or a trauma-experienced therapist/counsellor.
I think that learning to experience and acknowledge the emotions is very helpful for longterm improvement, but of course you also need to feel safe, supported and not get too overwhelmed with it all at once.
Have you done any relationship counselling? An experienced third party can really help if you can find the right person and get yourselves there. 💛
