Self-Care at 7cups
Talker: Anonymous
What is your idea of spending a balanced time on 7cups? Share your idea of how a good day looks like on 7cups, for you.
Set a reasonable time and date/day you want to be at Cups. Figure out why you are here. A good day at Cups for me is when I come here to talk to people who need a listening ear. A good day also means making others and myself happy by participating in events, chats, and forums and being supportive, kind, empathetic, and respectful while having fun.
What challenges did you face in trying to strike that balance?
I applied for a certain role that I was interested in, and then found that I was doing something completely different that wasn't for me or didn't align with the community just to keep it going. I ended up doing things I didn't want to do, and I didn't know when to say "no," which led to burnout. Eventually, I resigned because I realized what role I wanted more and could do without compromise.
How did you try to deal with those challenges?
I politely sent a message to my community leader, telling them I can't do it anymore. Whatever it is, I still love the community I was involved with and would continue to support it and contribute whenever possible.
What are the benefits of improving your balance for the time you spend on cups?
I'm really enjoying Cups lately because I'm doing what I really want to do here, I don't overcompensate or feel burned out, and most importantly, I've a very supportive team and leader.
What message would you like to give to the cupsers who have come to be negatively attached to cups, in one of the many ways?
Schedule your time wisely if you want to enjoy this site more or be committed to your roles. Also, find a community of people who will support you, respect your boundaries, and encourage you to take breaks for self-care.
Any 7cups friends you care for?
I care about all my long-term members and the relationship I have with them as a listener. I still check in on them from time to time to see how they are doing.

Another great interview!
I love how they mentioned "figure out why you are here." I believe that is an excellent point. It's great to reflect on our sense of purpose while we are here. It's also nice to see how they mentioned a good day involves making both themselves and others happy on here. It's important that Listeners are just as mindful of their own happiness.
I'm glad they were able to recognize that a role was not fitting for them. It's okay to come to this realization! It's hard to say no sometimes. I commend them for this! Appreciate this insightful interview! <3 💜
