what i wish people understood about addiction is that it
@enchantiing I agree and can relate for sure. Some legal substances are just as addictive and potentially dangerous as illegal ones, and it can be particularly hard for people (including professionals) to understand or even have the nessasary information on addictions to lesser known legal substances e.g. legal nootropics
Withdrawal is on another level which is why people dont understand with certain drugs withdraw can take months and the support is never there to accommodate the time. It's not easy it's pain. Like all addictions begin in pain also they end with pain too. It's a tricky area but you and anyone holds the key don't kid yourself on be true quit or don't otherwise it's your mum dad sister brothers that are affected be conscious don't make excuses get it done. End of
@blitheSun94 I wish people understood that addiction is just as much a disease as is diabetes or hypertension. Addiction is a real medical condition and I just wish more could see that. It's NOT a choice!
That emotions will need to be delt with in new ways or we will fall back to buring them in substances

The fact that you might feel like it's impossible to give up your addictions at first but if you have the conviction that you can quit it, no one can stop you from overcoming those addictive habits. You might fail for the first time, the second time, the third time, the fourth time or even for the fifth time but with frequent tries you are bound to succeed. The day you lose hope, you lose everything. So never ever lose hope, never ever give up on yourself. You deserve love, respect, happiness and have faith that you will get all of these and much more. Always look on the brighter side! ❤✌
I wish people knew that addiction feels like a “friend” when I have no one else…. loneliness is so difficult to deal with even for a sober person, and the biggest reason I turn to alcohol is because I’m all alone. It’s not always about “self-destructing” — sometimes it’s just a way to replace to the lack of love.
Addiction lies to us by telling us quitting is not possible. But once you ween off you get back the spark of life and can actually enjoy life again.
Try it and get your life back
In most cases, addiction is not a cause but an effect. Something in our lives triggered us toward addictions...find the causes...
If people had any idea of the painful distraughtful destruction addiction causes they would never play around with drugs.
Addiction has taken away everything and everybody I love the most leaving me unable to want to take another breath.
Addiction has left me looking like an able person but im unable to care for myself and i cannot get the help i need because although im a very good communicator, im unable to explain or even understand why ive become unable to funtion with even my basic life duties.
I have a daily life full of suffering and i try hard to be a nice person and i am, but people see me as lazy, which im not.
I put in countless hours trying to solve this puzzle while in constan mental and physical pain and i dont want to continue.
Im stuck unable to end it, unable to solve it, and unable to describe how im damaged to anybody.
Ive tried to get help but they cant see the problem im trying to describe so i get abandoned each time.
Addiction doesn't define who you are as a person.
Everyone had an addiction, whether it is food, music, drinking, drugs, shopping etc.
But everyone who has an addiction has it for a reason. To fill what they are lacking in life, and they should focus on how they can fill that void instead of looking down upon addicts. It's stressful hiding an addiction, (I am addicted to methamphetamine) especially as someone in high school. No one I know does it, so when they do find out they figure automatically that I'ma no body, that I'm not responsible, that I flail, that I'm crazy and it automatically makes people remove themselves from my life.
That's what I don't understand, when we are trying to reach out you'd hope someone might at least try and at least listen but instead of people helping they'd rather not deal with your issues and cut you off once they see you have an addiction. That's the reason I'm here, just moved, I'm alone on this.
But in shorter words, I wish people would try to understand when someone opens up about having an addiction no matter what it may be. Instead they tend to alienate you, and push you away as if you're some horrible human being.
To be honest with you guys, I think that what they should know is that, it is not easy to fill the void and it is not so easy to stay clean for long, that somebody might not be lazy but an addict, nstead of telling them to just straighten themselves up, they should find out the root cause of the addict's behaviour, perhaps they might save them
@DONOTBEAFRAID2113 I wish that people would understand that addiction is a disease. People who suffer from addiction undergo drastic brain changes when compared to the healthy average adult brain. There is so much about addiction that we cannot control, it is really not possible just to snap out of it, stop using, or move on from it! The best thing someone who suffers from addiction can do is to reach out to those who love and support them, and stick with their inability to give up and to continue being resilient through every hardship and urge to use
@DONOTBEAFRAID2113 I agree with you wholeheartedly in most cases there is an underlying cause that takes years of love and patience to understand to hopefully break the dependency cycle, and even then there are no guarantees of successful results if the underlying causes are so ingrained that they cannot be overcome...
@DONOTBEAFRAID2113 I agree. I wish people didn't look at me like I'm sick. Like I'm a bad person. When I started using spice I was fucked up but went to my friend's houses to just be with people who cared about me but I never will forget how their parents would talk about me being a bad influence or that I'm one of the bad kids. Yeah I was fucked up but I never did anything to hurt anyone and yet they stereotyped and judged me instead of offering me help. I wish people knew how good the highs feel because then maybe they would understand how hard it is to quit. I wish they knew that everyday I'm clean and sober I wake up and miss it. I miss it all, even with the withdrawals I would risk it, all it takes is one second to fuck up everything you have worked so hard to built.
