why is addiction considered a subgroup?
I cant understand why the site does not grant the same level of consideration as for the other rooms..no live chat whats the point in this at all? makes me think there is even here a stigma to understanding the difficulties of addicts which I think are more devastating than most problems members have because its a case of life of death in many cases..Im really annoyed by this sorry people
@Rockingboat Addiction Support is a subcommunity, which currently is the way of designating a topic as one of the main supported topics at 7cups.
There are addiction discussions, they occur in the support session room.
@AffyAvo there is no room for addiction why do you think should be discussed in either depression or anxiety or family support or anything else. I dont agree Affy its a separate issue and one that only addicts can understand not other members that have other issues, not even a phsychiatrist gets it if not an addict himself ...the AA book and NA describe this clearly...
@Rockingboat I'm confused what your issue is. Addiction Support has it's own Subcommunity. Anxiety support has it's own Subcommunity. Depression Support has it's own Subcommunity. Addiction isn't combined with either of these.
@Rockingboat The addiction support subcommunity exists to meet the unique needs of people dealing with addictions along with their loved ones and to get that level of understanding from others that you're talking about. I also wanted to point out that there are many different lenses to view addiction through and AA/NA isn't for everyone recovering from an addiction and that's totally fine. Everyone's journey is different and it's important that we keep that in mind and recognize the wealth of knowledge and learning opportunities that different backgrounds and communities can offer and that we don't isolate ourselves or create a barrier between us and others from the general mental health community just because we may deal with different issues.
@Rockingboat We don't yet have our own chatroom since we are a relatively new subcommunity. We're working on it though. In the meantime, we presently have a weekly open support chat hour. It happens on Wednesdays from 11pm-12am EST in the support session room. You are welcome to come join us then 
. We also have weekly discussions on rotating addiction-based topics. You can find the details of those in the community calendar (sorry I can't post the link to that right now, my browser is being weird)
