I quit drinking November 11, I was going strong for quite sometime, it has only been till recently that I have had lapses (one time a little worse than a lapse), I don’t mind that I have a drink or two now, however I am wondering if I should be concerned. I fell like I have a good handle on it now. I am only mildly concerned about it. Anybody have similar experiences, I don’t believe I will ever go back to the way I was. It took a unconventional way to get through it, however it worked for me.

@Wesley8533

I think it is a good thing you have reflection on where you were and are making conscience decisions on your occasional drinks....

I think it keeps you more vigilant especially if you quit in an unconventional way.

I will say this, just be careful. Our addict brains will justify anything to get us to using again... and honestly I cannot count how many times I thought u had a handle on it and had myself convinced that I could drink recreationally, but it has always led me back to where I was, but worse off each time. I'm 34 now and after many many years of trying to control my use, I've accepted that I just can't. Maybe for a short time but it never lasts long term and I always wind up back where I was. So I had to give it up for good. Not saying that's the case with you, but that is the case for majority of people that struggle with addiction and alcoholism
