Marijuana Withdrawal

Hi! I’m currently struggling badly with marijuana withdrawals. I stopped smoking three days ago, cold turkey. I’m having chills, nausea, hot flashes, night sweats, headaches, vomiting, cravings and mood swings. This all started a few hours after quitting smoking. For some insight, I’ve been smoking almost 24/7 since 2021. I’m struggling really badly, not able to work or do daily activities because I’m so sick. And I’m very depressed without weed. I could just use some words of support, some advice for dealing with withdrawals, anything really. I feel so alone in this. I can’t tell my family because they’re heavily against marijuana and I know they would react poorly if I told them what’s going on. I have one friend and my therapist supporting me. My boyfriend can’t talk during the week usually, so I have to wait a couple of days before I can see him and talk to him about all of this. So my support from him is limited. That’s why I’m reaching out here: I just need help with this. I want to go back to smoking so badly. I have BPD with a very addictive personality; having no substances is very difficult. Also diagnosed with Substance Use Disorder since I was 10. I’m considering NA meetings. I don’t know how I’m gonna make it through this. Longest I’ve went without weed since 2021 was 15 days. It’s only day 3 and I want to give up already. Please, just keep me in your thoughts. My mental health is terrible right now. Thank you 🫶

@Kay9833

Hi Kay,

you are definitely not alone, is there something you can do to occupy your mind? read a book, walk with music every time you feel the urge?

I was a chronic smoker, mainly hash from the age of 13 to almost 30. Gave it up cold turkey and from what I vaguely remember was occupying my mind with lots of walking and riding my bicycle.

You can do this, you just need to find the right distraction.

Lots of love and hugs being sent your way. 💜  🤗

@Kay9833

I get you. I have BPD, too. Hypersexuality is one thing for especially women with BPD, so I got addicted to porn at age 12.

When I tried to stop, after a few days, I was a mess. Very, VERY severe paranoia. Hallucinations, seeing and hearing things, feeling like I'm chased, like I'm about to d/e, sweating, nausea, headaches, no sleep for over a week, I was really such a mess.

I know what you're going through, and I'm in the same place, still trying. I've cut porn for only two days now and I had a terrible episode last night and am wondering how it will go further than this.

My heart goes to you, I'm not kidding you're really amazing for just taking such a step, really.
