My struggles (15 years old)

I'm 15 years old and I've been battling this addiction since I was 13. I've tried too many times, and now I don't feel guilty or angry at myself for relapsing, like I've accepted this lifestyle.

My grades have gone downhill and my social life isn't great so I eventually just started not to care about anything, really. When will I change? I don't know... That's why I came to this app.

All I've done up to this point is talk to ChatGPT about my struggles. And I don't trust my family with this stuff.

I guess I just need help.

@Shoya7Ishida

🥺

Welcome to seven cups!

I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling so much.

It's not easy, juggling everything at that age.

Feelings can be so overwhelming but please know that they do pass.

You can heal and feel better.

There are many wonderful teen listeners here, that you might connect with, if you browse through listeners.

Could you talk to a trusted teacher? Or guidance counselor?

You deserve to be happy and to not let your life slip further out of your control!

💜💕

Thank you for your support, I really really appreciate it. It's a lot for I have to do to feel like I've improved, it can get discouraging all the time. So, getting this message really helped.

No, I don't trust anyone about this issue, sadly, but that's the sole reason why I came to 7 Cups. I contacted a great listener already and it's been helping me.

I feel like I'm actively trying to engage with another human being rather than AI. I saw this post earlier but I didn't reply, I was at a school function, so I took your advice and thought of it to help me get through the day, so thank you.

I'm glad that you reach out here early because there are so many people including me who are struggling with this for more than 10 years and as my experience don't take this habit casual try to replace it with new good habit it could be anything like - singing , dancing , journaling or just talking to someone which you did because replacement is the only solution. Don't take too much stress stay relaxed and take care .

@Shoya7Ishida I hear how heavy this feels for you. Thank you for being open about your struggles that takes courage, especially at 15. From what you shared, it sounds like you’ve been carrying this addiction for a couple of years, and the repeated relapses have left you feeling numb, almost like you’ve accepted it. At the same time, your grades and social life have been impacted, and underneath it all, you still want change  otherwise you wouldn’t have reached out.
