Porn Addiction
Hello, I'm new to 7cups and this is my first post at all here. I recently have come to terms with the fact that I have a porn addiction. In hindsight, it's been there since at least the fifth grade, when I was 11, and I'm 26 now. I only came to terms with it because it's caused huge issues with my fiancée. Recognizing this addiction has also helped me realize that I think I struggle with compulsive lying. I hate lying to her, or anyone really, but I still struggle. The thought of telling the truth seems to give me anxiety in a lot of instances, and I have gone weeks or even months before coming clean to her about my porn usage. I don't want to be like this anymore, but I know I can't do it on my own. I'm posting this to vent, but I also am hoping for support. I've never really seen a mental health professional before, much less tried support groups, but here I am! Thank you for reading this far, if you did.

It is good you recognize your issues and want to change.
it is hard to change a long time addiction / habit of lying and porn. I think for long term success in overcoming any addiction is really seeing what you thought you were getting out of it....
lying ......some people seem to get a high thinking they got away with it but many do not see the others around them KNOW the people are liars and they are NOT getting away with anything instead friends and family distrust all that you say.
for porn it can cause problems as real relationship may not seem the same as a scripted fake enthusiasm filled video. do not expect you to be all fixed ....but everyday is a work in progress.
