Recovery isn't avoidance, it's saying no regardless

I found this video and I don't know if it's AI or a true story. I actually don't care if it's real, it makes a good point regardless. Recovery isn't avoidance, it's looking at the bad and choosing better. It's saying no to your addictions when they're staring you in the face. To me this is the ultimate goal for Recovery, being able to say no right in the thick of it. It isn't easy and it may never be, but still to reach that point where you can. I choose joy and love over tobacco and cutting.

You're right, it is. Avoidance is simply a barrier. When you have no desire, that's real strength. But it's difficult, and sometimes, especially in the early stages, avoidance can help. But of course, true renunciation is a personal choice.
