Relapse thoughts
I was addicted to alcohol and some other stuff. I fell in love only once in my life 3 years ago since then had a relationship but never stopped thinking about the first girl. Recently I've been thinking about her more often than normal and keep getting relapse thoughts with them. I am a strong minded guy got through addiction without therapy without friends by myself. But I need help now to stop thinking about relapsing. How do I stop. Thank you.

Have you thought that even if in a relationship and such ... you may not have been happy or maybe you think of other girl thinking it would have been better etc. Our minds can always ask "what if? "
I talk to myself and really examine the reality of my thoughts ... pros and cons sort of thing. most of the time my vision is not workable when it comes down to the details. So i no longer think or wish i was doing something different.
When my partner who also got thru a alcohol addiction had relapse or close calls not because of something being wrong but his thoughts they could have been better or stress in not dealing with his real triggers... Once he has saw it is not something to be hidden and ashamed of. He no longer was tempted to drink when others were at weddings or gathering . Relapsed previously, because he thought he would fit into social situation with one drink which became more etc you know the slide.
@redGrapes1550 That’s really hard, but you’ve already shown how strong you are by getting through addiction on your own. Keep focusing on what’s helped you stay clean so far and take it one day at a time. You’ve got this.
