Shopping/debt
I don’t know if anyone can relate, I’m putting this out there and hoping for some light.
I can’t stop spending, I’m in debt.
I emotionally spend and it’s bad. I owe too much money and I have 2 young children. I feel selfish and I can’t seem to control it.
I’m ashamed and embarrassed, I don’t know how to fix it.
I spend my money on Makeup and clothes, I tell myself it’ll make me happy about my self and it’ll make me feel better about my appearance, it doesn’t.
The worst thing is, I know this… yet I cannot fix it.
The car needs fixing, I don’t have the money… If I tried to use my card it’ll decline, I’m over my overdraft and owe the bank and Klarna.
I’m absolutely ashamed at myself.
I’m 36, I’m a grown woman, I’m not setting an example for my children.

hello,
it is a real struggle frankly most retail is set up for the emotional shopper... trying to fill us with things.
you say you know it that is first step just like being an alcoholic first is admit you have an issue. all you can do now is dig out of debt one step at a time and find ways to feel better without shopping.
Did you have an example in your life that did "retail therapy", a parent or someone? you can chose to be a better example to your kids because depending on their ages what they witness makes a much bigger impression on them. rebuilding your life and finding a way to get out of debt will show them something amazing.

You are not a bad person or a bad parent. I have the same addiction that I am trying to overcome. Shopping addictions are real. I totally understand. Hang in there.
