Hi my name is Lakyn. Due to extreme stress and sleeping problems, my father has constantly consumed sleeping pills. This habit has occurred in the past everytime he was stressed. As a result of the pills, he became super energetic, impulsive. and reckless. For instance, he spent a lot of money on useless things and sometimes even take money from my mother, he also cleans excessively, and drives recklessly. I am currently in college and is supposed to go abroad for University next year. However, due to his problems, I am unsure wheter I should leave my mother or that we will be able to cover the expenses if his spending probloms does not change. I have suggested therapy multiple times but he refused to get help. So how can I help my father when he refuse to get help?

You should definitely persuade your father to pass a therapy. You need to reassure him it'll help you both, cause you need to be confident he's safe. There are many reputable clinics that can help you. You can have a look at https://bookinghealth.com/blog/medical-tourism/hospitals-rankings/301079-top-10-best-german-hospitals.html. They offer the treatments your father needs. I understand him, but he needs to accept that the therapy is obligatory. The understanding of it is the first step to recovery. So don't give up. Speak with your father, show him your support and tell him how important he is for you.

Sorry, the link broke. I'll add another one - https://bookinghealth.com/blog/diagnoses-and-treatment/diagnosis-and-treatment/599810-stem-cell-therapy-for-autism-in-germany.html. Maybe someone will find it useful, cause the list is pretty good ranked.

I don’t really have any good advice but I’m just here to let you know that I can relate and I completely understand what your going through. My dad has been an addict my entire life. He’s been addicted to several different things throughout the years but pain pills are definitely his drug of choice. He lives in Florida and I live in West Virginia so it’s kinda an out of sight out of mind thing until he comes to visit. But when he comes to visit I can’t hardly stand to look at him. He doesn’t even look like my dad anymore and he has terrible unpredictable mood swings. I’ve never actually been able to talk to him about getting help cause he completely refuses to admit he has a problem. I’ve talked to my mom about trying to get him help but that never goes well. She’s his biggest enabler. It just makes me feel so sorry for him and honestly I’ve accepted the fact that he will never be the dad I once knew and he probably won’t be around much longer. I’m sorry I don’t have any advice for you but just know that you aren’t alone in this.
