Hie. I have been struggling to stop masturbating since 2009. Sometimes i can stick to my plan for a month, but i end up watching porn. I am at a level where i can sleep around 1 am watching porn and jacking off. A lot of girls like me, i can have interest for a while and stop following up. Please help, i need to change my life

@Kayz07

Hey, hey you! First off, I'm so so proud to see your effort and determination! That is amazing. Secondly, hmmm. I'm not especially knowledgable in the area of masturbation/porn addiction, but have you thought about an accountability partner? Someone who checks up on you, who raises you up if you relapse (which, by the way, is a very normal human thing to do. Frustrating, but normal. You're not weak or pathetic because of relapses <3), who pretty much supports you? That's just a thought, and I'm terribly sorry if it wasn't helpful at all

Anyways, best regards and love to you, Khan

I love this post. I say that because I have been there. Like, exactly right there.Masturbating my life away, and thinking I'm ok but thinking I should stop, and trying to stop over and over and over again. I found out that I'm really good at stopping. I do it all the time. It's the staying stopped that I have trouble with. I keep starting over and over and over again.

Here's what I did to get out of my destructive downward spiraling cycle:

I joined a 12 Step group. I needed a program of recovery and awesomely one was already built for me. I also found a community. Other people suffering the same way I was, but someone they seemed like they were happy (I may have read some stuff on the rowboatandmarbles website that helped educate me to and select my group).

I got a sponsor in the program to help me work the steps.

I asked someone to be my accountability partner. I didn't say I was looking for one or that I needed one. I asked someone and we've been talking now together for 3 years every day.

I also asked someone to be my action partner. I tend to talk with my accountability partner at the end of the day, after I've experienced it and after I've made all the choices, mistakes, or otherwise that I've done. But I wanted to voice my choice at the beginning of the day. So I talk with my action partner every morning and we've been talking for almost 3 years.

I continue to work the steps with my sponsor. But I also have a lot of the people from group that I can call, at any given moment, when I'm feeling triggered and want to act out. They call me too sometimes. To surrender. To literally give up the right to act out, to voice it and to own it, and then choose a healthier path.

It's pretty aweseome.
