Heavy and Frozen Lazy
Sometimes being self aware about what I should be doing yet not doing it is a crazy phenomenon I do. Like even when I have the tools in front of me for a task I should be doing, my mind goes yeah let's do it just start, but it feels HEAVY to just begin. Crazily I do this since many years. I remember in my teenage when I was told please just take a bath it ain't that hard I used to rebel and kinda freeze and not do anything. Well I do bath regularly now as a fully grown adult but I do sometimes (a lot of times) have these moments for any other mundane or even highly important task.
The solution may be a simple just do it. I might need to train myself. Any tips that'd work or anybody with a similar experience how do u deal with it?
@fearbubble
Here's some thoughts, that might be useful, or might not. If not useful, just ignore them.
Freezing, avoidance and procrastination are all responses to fear. Fear is our commonest emotion, but unfortunately most people are brought up to be ashamed of fear, so have little awareness of it. I went on a journey to make friends with my fear. Its still a work in progress, but it has much less control over my life now. Maybe you could looking into whether fear is making things harder for you than they should be?
Society also loves to control us with guilt. And it sounds a bit like you feel guilty for not doing stuff you think you should. But don't we all do that - not do stuff we think we should? Do you think you could forgive yourself for being imperfect? There's forgiveness worksheets online that really helped me.
The "just start" technique is a great one, but it doesn't work every time.
I like to do lists. I like the satisfaction of crossing things off. But there's a trick to not writing more on the list than you can achieve. Otherwise it becomes depressing.
Best wishes.
@fearbubble sometimes it's not always a Laziness, but fatigue feeling comes from Health issues, Weakness or tiredness, or sometimes doing the things we always pressurized to do, what about U should consult some good health advisor, To check if u need some vitamins deficiency? And if report comes Fit, try to confirm the things u are doing aren't pressurized by society or family? Like sometimes we get forced to be a Dr or something, we really don't want to be, and we are into some other ambitions , but to think of it makes us feel tired and lazy, And still everything is fine , u still feel laziness, think about it, u Has to make food for urself to eat and live alive, so Do it for a better living. And if u want a purpose of life , get motivated, So understand Ur life is Amanah, Amanah Of Allah (God) , live it the way Allah loves it, Be strong be dependent, be Hopeful. Failure is just a Illusion, we really fail when we stop trying our best.
Hi, I understand that much.
I love how Dr ari Tuckmen says it:
ADHD is not about knowing what to do, it's about doing what you know.
Just knowing what you should do does give ADHD the motivation to do it. The idea of "just do it' does not work by us so well.
I encourage you to explore ideas and aids such as gamefying or reward to make you do what you need to do.
I wish you much success!
