I just fugured out why adhders have no concept of time

K so I was just thinking about everything and nothing (what’s new) and I was thinking abt how I was having my my first meal of the day (a muffin) at 4:30 pm. Then I remembered a time I got in trouble for not feeding my little brothers supper on time cuz I didn’t realize it was so late already, and I just figured out why that is. This could be incredibly inaccurate ngl, cuz it’s just an insightful guess, but wouldn’t it make sense that the reason ADHDers have no time concept is bc a “normal person” has their body telling them “I’m hungry, it must be lunchtime” or “I’m sleepy, it’s bedtime” but we don’t get hungry at normal times, and even if we do we still forget to eat sometimes, so there goes lunch. And we don’t feel sleepy until 1 in the morning, so there goes bedtime. Ykwim?? Like we don’t have our bodies naturally telling us what time of day it is because our bodies are just as confused as us 😭😭 now like I said this is just a guess and there’s likely a chemical thing that gives a scientific explanation but like does this not make sense?

Very interesting! Yes, my body has been thrown off because of my ADHD. For me, I have forgotten to eat or have procrastinated on eating because I was focused on doing something more interesting than preparing food, or feeling overwhelmed by not knowing what to eat. Today I was about to spend an indefinite amount of time looking at 7 Cups posts, and I thought, "I can eat and do 7 Cups at the same time! So I'm here eating lunch, and after lunch I will get stuff done.

Yes time blindness is so real!! I struggle with this too sometimes, but I certainly see more evidence of this in my daughter. This article will explain the science behind time blindness and some strategies on how to manage it.
