Maladaptive daydreaming
Hey everyone, I’m 17 and struggling really badly with maladaptive daydreaming. Because of severe bullying, I switched to online school, and since I live out in the country without a car or a job, I rarely leave the house. I'm incredibly lonely, have no friends right now, and end up daydreaming all day just to cope. I really want to stop and reclaim my life, but I’m stuck and don’t know what to do. Has anyone else been in a similar situation, and how did you start breaking the cycle?

😔
I'm so sorry to hear that you were bullied.
None of this is a reflection of you at all.
It might help you to make friends here your she and slowly start opening up and one step at a time, without pressure starting to get back to being you and doing what you love.
You are very welcome here at cups 🩷 🤗

Thank you so much; I really needed that.🙂

A pleasure 💚
Hi QuietMochi,
I can hear how lonely and stuck you feel right now, and my heart goes out to you.
It makes so much sense that after going through such terrible bullying, you would retreat into daydreams as a safe, gentle place to escape all the pain.
Daydreaming isn’t a flaw or something you’re doing “wrong” — it’s your mind’s way of protecting you when the real world feels too hard to bear.
It must be so hard to be stuck at home all alone, with no one around. I’m so sorry you’ve had to carry all this by yourself at such a young age.
You are already so brave for wanting to break this cycle and take your life back. That desire alone is such an incredibly strong first step.
You don’t have to fix everything all at once. Even the smallest, tiniest gentle step outside the routine counts. You are not alone in this struggle, so many people here truly understand exactly what you are going through.
I'm really sorry that you're going through this right now. You deserve better. I may not have the right answers for you but just know that you're not alone. I hope you find help in the end. Do take great care of yourself 💖
It starts with one habit at a time. Then when you got that habit you move onto the next habit. Be kind, give your self grace, support, understanding, compassion. Learn to work with yourself, don't fight it but don't drown in it. Set timers. I'm looking for an accountability partner where we check in to ensure we're on right track. Support, motivation. Also body doubling helps, doing a task while chatting with someone or just knowing you ca6text or call anytime with that body double helps. There is no box, limit is what you place get ride of expectations, live in the moment and allow your self to exist, even if messy. I'm here to listen
Your enough, your worthy
