My Learning Disability Makes Me Stupid.
I understand that a person with a learning disability needs to learn differently. In my case that is true, but what I come to understand is that my learning disability effects me in everything I do. Even the things I do better than others, I don't do good enough to add to society, or to make money from it. That is the reason why I am a Custodian for a school, and clean toilets for a living. People look down at me. I can't make friends. I struggle with traveling. I could go on and on how it makes me stupid. I can't even seem to be able to figure out how to deal with it. Can you imagine how much research it would take to find a solution? You see normal medication doesn't work on me. I tried some of it, but due to my travel issues, and high blood pressure medication boxes me into a box with no way out.

@tryingtosurvive2024 Please don't refer to yourself as stupid. Of all the things you are in this world, stupid is not one of them! I truly empathize with how you feel and all you're going through. I'm sorry to hear medication makes you feel boxed in. I'm sorry to hear that you may struggle to think you're not smart enough or good enough to do anything better. I understand a custodian job and cleaning toilets may not be ideal, but I'm glad you have that job as a source of employment. It takes a special person willing to do the dirty work so to speak and I applaud you! Please know not all things how they are now will be forever. Sometimes things are just for a season. Regardless, please always know that your value and worth is not tied to the kind of job you are doing. ♡ You are worth so much more. Your current thoughts and situations do not define you. Please be kind to yourself. You deserve kindness and love and goodness! ♡ Sending hugs your way if it's ok. 🤗
I am sorry to hear that you are in a bad space mentally right now. I know how that inner voice can become our worst critic and tell us really horrible things about ourselves. These things aren't true unless we believe them, that is what gives those thoughts power over you.
How you choose to perceive yourself and others influences the types of experiences you have. One thing I have found incredibly helpful in changing my mindset is a daily gratitude practice. The attitude of gratitude sets you up mentally to see and focus on the good things in your life.
If it is feasible for you, I have heard the people with ADHD have great success with doing CBT therapy. I know you said you can’t take medication, so I have an alternative, it is called drug free ADHD. You can sign up for the newsletter, read his blog, listen to his podcasts and there is a wealth of ideas there that will show you ways to help you with your ADHD symptoms in a non-medicated way. There is always a solution, it just depends on our willingness to make change. If we stay in victimization it is only going to keep us stuck. Rooting for you that you find your way.

@aCalmOasis I signed up for it.

Nice, well done! I find his information so helpful, as I too am unmedicated and am going the holistic route to deal with my symptoms.
@aCalmOasis i have not received any email after signing up.
He doesn't email often, maybe once or twice a month. He has a podcast in spotify though with plenty of episodes and blog posts you can read.
@tryingtosurvive2024 I am so very sorry, you struggle with your learning disability. I truly am. I can relate. I have a learning disability too. We just learn, in different ways. We are not stupid or dumb.
We have gifts and talents as well.
@calmMango9611 I have abilities that are better than other things about me. But none of them have proven to be advantageous in a way that helps society. In other words, I'm a janitor because all other things I have tried didn't work out. I took two years of electronics in school, but after getting a job doing it I was fired in just four weeks for being too slow. That meant I had to try to get a factory job, and all I did was inspect and pack replacement parts. I was also too slow for them. My learning disability slows me down. I can build desktop computers. I applied at multiple places, and was rejected. I tried to apply for retail stores and also got rejected. It took an entire year of trying to land the job I am in now. Now days applying for jobs has become even harder. Back when I was applying, fill out application and resume was all that was needed. Now they want a letter too. If I had to apply for the job I'm currently doing, I would need to try and do all three!
