Too Scared

I have done so many online test and quizzes and have looked up so many ADHD symptoms and everything I come out with the same answer. There's a high chance that I have AdHD, but the only way to know for sure would to be, go see a doctor, right? Well, I would but the thought of them actually diagnosing with AdHD and even more stuff scares me, cause then I'll have to go through so many test and then in the end, get put on pills. How do I fix these worries?

I can hear that you are definitely having a really hard time with being possibly diagnosed with ADHD. Being diagnosed with anything can be super scary and we can be filled with a lot of unknowns! But I am super glad that you have found the ADHD Sub Community as I know others will be able to support you through this!

Here are a few posts that I think could really help you. You can maybe read through the replies or even reply to some of these threads yourself 😊

There are so many awesome thread that I could share with you but I will leave it at that for right now. But please be sure to ask any questions if you have any

Hey! Yes, you will have to go see a psychologist. Some self diagnosing tests/ forms can be misleading. Also, you don’t necessarily have to be on a medication. Regular therapy depending upon the severity of the problem can also do the job but it’s upon the psychologist who does the diagnosis to decide.

I understand it can sound scary but there shouldn’t be any harm if it’s saves you from a lifetime of a misery.

Hope you feel better soon!

Hey! You seem to be stressed out by your potential diagnosis and I feel there is one thing that needs to be said – a good doctor tries to solve a problem, not a diagnosis.

Some people with ADHD are able to live a fairly normal life without any medications. A few adjustments here and there, some routines, etc. may be enough. It all depends on how severe your symptoms are and what is the impact on your life.

You should ask yourself what's actually bothering you? How can you alleviate those problems? And yes, in some cases, the most obvious way would be to get in touch with a professional, get a diagnosis, and take medications. But that doesn't mean you have to do any of it. It's up to you to raise your concerns, right? Well, what makes you think you don't have an influence on the progress?

If the breaks on your car are due to be checked you have a couple options.

  1. Get them looked at to see if anything is needed and fix them.
  2. You could just drive your car around until the breaks give out then you will know for sure the breaks aren't working.

Why do symptoms have to be present before age 12?

And in two settings? I'm really confused whether I fit criteria or not. I don't know if the things I attribute to my autism are correct or whether it's actually ADHD? I don't know if they've been present for 6 mths. These two questions abt two settings and before the age of 12 don't require them for autism so I don't know why you would for ADHD that's apprntly related?
