Hi ladies,

It would be very nice to share how did you find out you had ADHD and what was the most prominent characteristic for you.

Thank you all :)

@MiaMee I actually was diagnosed in childhood I think. I remember they made me take meds when I was still very, very young. The reason: I shook my leg too much at my school desk and it annoyed the teacher.

@BusyBird

I was diagnosed at a young age, too. I annoyed the teachers and my parents were told I could not return to school unless I was medicated lol.

@Remina May I ask if you "grew out of it"? I sometimes wonder if maybe there were some false diagnoses back then (and therefore I wonder if I am truly ADHD) because children just naturally have more energy and we didn't always get to spend that energy as much as we should. Kids need more play time and less of it spent at a desk! I know I've become a rather lethargic person at this point. I don't think people even see me as ADHD anymore because I grew up and got tired. Then again, maybe I was never educated on my own disorder so there is probably more to it that I never considered or heard about. I only remember them saying that signs of it were shaky leg and rocking myself.

Also sorry you had to do the medications too 🫂 I don't know what it was like for you, but I remember haaaaaating the meds. I had not yet figured out swallowing things whole because of my age.

I think I did grow out of it somewhat yeah. I recall stopping meds for it at age 16 because I hated taking the pills. I did later as an adult try to restart meds, but then I stopped again, and then found out I had Bipolar, which is sometimes confused for ADHD, although it is possible to have both.

I definitely think there might have been some false diagnoses back then because like you said children naturally have more energy, which is why practitioners now wait a bit before giving an official diagnosis. I think also even if we do have ADHD, as we grow the hyper part settles down, especially because we learn how to cope with it in a way. I recommend definitely educating yourself on ADHD as it never hurts to be a little informed.

And thanks! -hugs- I hated the medications, too. My parents would crush it in food for the most part so I didn't have to handle swallowing pills until I became a teenager and that's when I started to just cheek them lol.

@Remina *Hugs* ^-^ You know, after you said this, I went chatting elsewhere and learned a tad bit about ADHD and realized maybe my own diagnosis actually was correct. XD

@Remina Oh!!!! Also I hope it didn't come across as rude at all. I was talking from my own POV, not as a judgement of anyone else's ADHD. 🌿

I'm still in the process of getting diagnosis but I was quite sure I had it after finding out about ADHD analysis paralysis, hyperfixation, procrastination, etc! Always *** it was just hyper kids but it's not!!
