Letters to the teens - Part 3
💌 @helpingothersbylistening - Listener
A few days ago, a read a post where someone asked what wish they got that backfired on them, and someone answered 'wanting to be an adult when I was a kid'. I had a little chuckle, but it also got me thinking about how many of us as kids want to be adults, and when we reach adulthood, how many of us wish for the life of a kid again.
But it doesn't have to be, and isn't always as scary as it seems. Yes, it's a big transition, there is no point in denying that. But it's doable. Believe in yourself, surround yourself with people who want to help you grow into adulthood. Fear of what being an adult means can hold some people back, and they're scared to lose you and scared to be left behind. Don't let these people stop you from becoming who you want to be.
It always is easier said than done. As long as you remember that it can be done. Each of us has the power to decide how we handle situations. We may not get to decide what those situations are, but we choose how we react to the situations we are given. Take one step at a time. If that means day by day, there is nothing wrong with that. What works for someone else might not work for you. My number one piece of advice: do not compare yourself with anyone else.

Hello lovely teens! I am lumie, and I am kind of a regular in the group support rooms on the Adult side. I am not that old and I do understand that the transition can be hard for many teens. I have been fortunate to also get to explore the teen side since I am an Adult Teen Listener (from another account), so I truly get the difference you'd feel when you come to the Adult side. I want you to know that you won't feel alone, it's scary to leave your friends and suddenly find yourself in new rooms where everyone seems to be people we don't know but at some point, it was the same when you were on the Teen side, right? Adult side seems it would be too serious, people would be weird, treat you like a child, let me tell you, it is nothing like that. I have been the youngest on the Adult side since the start and nobody belittled me or ignored me because I was "young." They actually give you the floor to speak if you want to, to share what you have to share. Most times, you wouldn't really even care if it's the Adult side or the Teen side, the difference will slowly fade away, or you will simply get used to it. There are amazing rooms on the adult side, we have the member community room where we have lighthearted chats, we have so many lovely discussions happening. There are going to be people who you will be great friends with! It will take time, as change is sudden, we cannot feel home right away when we enter a new place, but with time and participating more, you will see that everyone is so friendly! When I first started out, I was scared to even speak up in the room, so I used to slowly send messages to anyone who would seem to be talking and soon enough, I found some friends, got more confidence to speak with just about anyone and now I try my best to make everyone feel included. It isn't as scary as it would seem at the moment. If we cross paths in any rooms, I would be so happy to talk with you!! You will really feel good. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but don't worry, oldies can be fun too, and I will try my best to support you in any way I can if our paths ever cross, and that's for sure! <3

Hello dear friends, so all set to move on to another level from teenage to adulthood. Many of you must have eagerly been waiting for this transition. It come with a mixed bag... Moving from school to college or start working. It will entail independence but a lot of responsibility as well. Many of you will move away from the comfort of your family and into a whole new setup where you will be taking most of your decisions. You'll grow and evolve to your true potential which will sometimes excite you and often overwhelm you, so be prepared for both. If you are ready this phase will bring you a lot of happiness and Fulfillment. You will have to find a balance between independence and responsibility. New people & situations will be great challenges. You will sail through smoothly if you are your natural self. Wish you all the best

Hi out there,
a few of you are probably going through a hard time right now and you have to believe me when I say you are not alone with this. I know it takes some courage to register at a website like this and well done you have mastered the first step in getting better. Because talking helps, yes it is easier just to keep it bottled up in yourself, but not for long let me tell you this at some point it just eats you up. If you talk about it, it is at least out there, and believe me, it has helped me.
