Life's Uncertainty
greetings and salutations to all here
I left a job which was causing me mental anguish without first finding a new job, the environment was toxic and in a way i overstayed my welcome for far longer than should have been necessary.
I thought I'd feel better but so far I'm drifting along and am torn between resting and finding my next job while my savings dwindle. I find myself lacking motivation to do anything but feeling anxious at the same. I just want to watch videos/relax/chill and hide away from reality. It is rather debilitating and frustrating. I want to rest but at the same time feel like I shouldn't be. 😢

Hey there <3
Thank you for being so open and sharing what you are going through.
Leaving a toxic job takes an incredible amount of courage, especially when it means stepping into the unknown without a new position lined up. It makes complete sense that you are feeling this heavy mix of exhaustion and anxiety right now.
What you are describing sounds a lot like deep burnout. When we stay in an environment that causes us mental anguish for a long time, we often run on pure adrenaline just to survive it. Now that you are finally out, your mind and body are asking for the rest they were denied for so long.
It is completely understandable that you are caught in that frustrating tug-of-war between wanting to find your next step and simply needing to hide away from reality. Feeling guilty for resting while your savings dwindle is such a heavy burden to carry, and it only adds to the exhaustion you are already feeling.
Please know that needing to watch videos, chill, and do nothing is a very normal response to leaving a deeply stressful situation. Decompressing is a necessary part of the healing process, and it is okay to give yourself permission to drift for a little while. We are here to hold space for you while you navigate this difficult transition. Please be gentle with yourself.
you rock,
keep rocking!
yours warmly,
snow <3
@Jeremiah29v11
You definitely shouldn't feel guilty about resting at all.
You were brave to leave a toxic environment.
But it's hard to regain motivation if we drift for too long.
It's not about pressure.
It's about looking at what other jobs are out there, and what you'd like to do so that your savings are not gone and the situation is worse 🩷

Yeah, but kinda high inertia now and still really lacking rest too :(
@Jeremiah29v11
I get that 🩷 it's about trying to find a more consistent routine 🩷
@Amanda84
trying to get into one... the current one is more semi relaxing, perhaps good to rest during Holy Week leading towards Easter 🫠😅
@Jeremiah29v11
No better time 🩷

@Amanda84
indeed, blessings onto you too Amanda! such an angel you are :)
@Jeremiah29v11
That's so nice of you to see 🩷
@Amanda84
haha... we all may not immediately notice the angels around us but we see them retrospectively when we reflect on how God chooses to reach out to us 😇💜
@Jeremiah29v11
Me 😂🩷

@Jeremiah29v11@Jeremiah29v11 Hey, recognizing that you were in a bad environment and having the courage to leave was already a big step. It's understandable that you'd feel burnt out and drained. You've just gotta trust that the strength it took you to leave will sustain you through this period and into a happier future—even if it takes some time for you to recover. I, for one, believe that you will 💙
You did the right thing for yourself in breaking free. Navigating a toxic environment is exhausting so be compassionate to yourself. Take some time to rest and recuperate.
